yeonbin chap

timeskip - 1 month later

the day had finally arrived. the day where the seniors would be graduating.

the seniors, second and some lucky first-years, would be growing out of their school life cocoon and grow into the butterflies of the new generation. they would be leaving school life behind, and all its memories, to write another chapter of their stories. go to university, get a stable or their dream job, or even start a family of their own with their soulmate. the possibilities are endless.

yeonjun was literally bubbling when he woke up that morning. he was about to spring out of bed and jump into the shower when he saw a giant bunny sleeping next to him, his face creased with the marks of tiredness. his mood dropped. soobin had had to deal with his insecure self once again, and on the night before their graduation. he felt so guilty; why couldn't he take care of himself?

to answer that question, he couldn't because he was a little.

yes, yeonjun was a little. he had so much trouble compressing his other personality, his other 'self', around other people, especially beomgyu. the pair were dating for about one year and they were watching a typical rom-com when soobin had accidentally changed the channel, AND to just jinx the moment, he had received a phone call from beomgyu, who was at his mother's house. the oblivious blue-haired kissed his boyfriend on the forehead before excusing himself and exiting the room.

---

the older groaned in frustration seeing the cartoon, squeezing the plushie in his grip harder. he bit his lip, tears threatening to spill like drizzling rain out of his eyes. he really didn't want to slip now, especially since the other was standing right outside the door. but he couldn't help himself, he hadn't slipped in days. his other self was showing and it was soon going to be as clear as day.

so he allowed himself to slip.

yeonjunnie sqealed in delight seeing his favourite show appear on tv and sang along to the theme and other songs loudly, his vivid, dyed hair bouncing up and down, matching the rhythm of the tunes. he sat his plushie down in his lap, flapping its fabric hands around.

soobin had heard some sound emitting from the living room but paid no heed to the trivial matter. but what he would find on the other side of the door would impact his relationship with the other forever.

the younger entered the room and to his surprise saw yeonjunnie staring with wide eyes at the television, mouth agape, when he saw the fairy magic a toy into life, he was watching pinocchio.

the pink-haired noticed the latter enter the room and immediately froze when he saw his boyfriend make his way towards him. it was almost like something in him, even his little self, realized that someone other than him knew his little secret. yeonjunnie's eyes welled up with tears, and he tucked himself into a ball-like position, rocking back and forth, muttering words to himself.

soobin immediately softened. he crouched down to the smaller male and took the remote to the tv, switching it off. he looked at the petrified boy, who was now in his embrace, as he carried the aforementioned to the sofa, placing yeonjunnie in his lap. combing his hands through the bright, neon hair, he asked, "what's wrong bub?"

the other shifted in the blue-haired's grip, feeling uncomfortable at the situation at hand. soobin noticed his discomfort and held both of his hands, kissing the back of both. "you know you can tell me anything, you don't have to if you don't want to, though," he reassured.

the pink-haired smiled a little, he knew he could trust his soulmate. he had been keeping this secret in for so long, but he didn't plan on his little side telling the other part of his story. he was scared that it would leave a mental scar on himself, from both sides, and far too quickly, so he allowed himself to suffer in silence, and let the scar tissue build up over time.

(i've decided not to add stuttering for better understanding)

yeonjun's pov

my family was perfect. i had a mother, a father, and a beautiful baby sister at the time, called aejung. our whole life was perfect, and i loved it.

but of course disaster had to commence, one way or another. i was about seven at the time, aejung, four years old. my parents had received a gift from halmeoni (grandmother)  and harabeoji (grandfather) to catch a flight to jeju island for their tenth wedding anniversary. i can remember the radiant  gummy smile that graced her face as my mother squealed when seeing the letter and flight tickets through the post that evening. it would be the final time i would ever see her smile. she explained the situation to us as kindly as she could especially to aejung as she was the closest to eomma. but my sister understood as it was, and was even happy for them, even if it meant separating from her for some time.

we were sent to halmeoni and harabeoji's house to stay about a week later is where we found out the news. the news that would change my life forever. my grandmother went to answer the knocks on the door, the knocks which sounded frantic and panicky. outside stood my father with a police officer and a paramedic standing behind him. his eyes were swollen, and cheeks flushed red and stained with tears. he looked as if he was on the verge of snapping out of control; he was. my grandmother rushed us up to her room as harabeoji made his way to the door.

i heard screams from the other side of the door and gunshots which were quite loud, comparing to the films. i shakily held the door to see four bloodified bodies limp on the floor, and my father holding a gun, his hand trembling with spasms vigorously, and beads of sweat trickling down his face and extremities.

my sister let out a loud cry to see halmeoni and harabeoji unmoving, alerting the attention of our appa. he stormed over to us, hand balled in a fist and ready to attack, i stood in front of aejung, saying,

"if you want to harm her, you have to go through me first, appa."

and harm he did.

yeonjun shivered at the memories of his past. he had learnt how important soulmate bond really was. if you didn't have then in life you could literally break down; they're your anchor, your threshold through everything you experience, and the pink-haired was one to testify for that.

soobin was rustling in bed now, grasping for yeonjun to cuddle. he frowned/pouted a little, rubbing his eyes, when he saw his boyfriend's downcast face. the latter sat up and wrapped his large hands around his waist, starting the smaller male a little.

"you know i love you right?" the blue-haired male started. yeonjun nodded.
"remember that i'll always love you, no matter what we'll go through, because that's what love is about." the younger spun the other around slightly, before kissing his lips softly. he smiled his iconic bunny smile and proceeded to walk to the bathroom.

yeonjun smiled a little, thinking about how happy his soulmate could make him.
