"Why does it take you so long to come to bed?" Zach asks, laying down.
I walk out of his bathroom, leaning against the doorframe. I look out at him, "You're the one that forced me to stay."
"Well, yeah." He clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth. "I assumed I'd get to actually cuddle you, but I can't do so if you're taking so long to even get to bed."
"Then just go to bed without me." I say, scrubbing my face with the face wash I had bought him months ago. In true Zach fashion, it was never even taken out of the box.
"But that ruins the sleepover. You both are supposed to stay up together." He whines. He sounds just like a little kid on Christmas morning who didn't get the toy that they've been wanting.
"Then come in here and wait with me. I'll do my skincare routine on you." I say, washing off the soap.
He trudged in, sitting on the covered toilet, staring at me. He rubs his eyes, trying to alleviate the tiredness in his face. "You're so lucky I like you." He yawns.
"Oh so you like me?" I smirk.
"If you couldn't tell that from day 1, you're pretty blind." He says, leaning back to get a more comfortable view of me.
I look over, rubbing in lotion. "Wait, you're being serious? I thought you were just flirty."
He blinks hard, "What? Do you need me to write it on a poster or just start calling you my girlfriend?"
I walk over to him, "I mean a poster would be nice. Very prom ask of you." I say, putting a few dollops of lotion on his face.
"I'm going with my girlfriend one." He says, placing a small kiss on my wrist. I continue gently rubbing it into Zach's face, his scruff slightly scratching me. My eyes well up at the thought that I was doing this with Nate just a few months ago.
I wonder if he did stuff like this with Isa.
Zach gently tugs at the hem of my shirt, "You okay?"
"I'm alright." I say, sucking back in my tears. "Today has just been a lot." I walk back to the sink, washing my hands. I look over to him, "You're all good."
"That means bed?" He jumps up. I laugh, nodding. I follow him as he flicks off the lights, jumping underneath covers. Before I can barely lay down, I feel two hands reach out and grab me, pulling me into his chest.
"Jesus...you scared the shit out of me." I let out laughing. "What happened to the no touching?"
"I've been waiting for you to be single this entire time of knowing you. Let me have my moment, just for a second." He says, nuzzling into my hair. I've realized with him, he enjoys us just being in each company. We can talk about everything and nothing, but it won't compare to the time we spend together.
"Zach?" I interrupt our silence.
"Hm?" He replies sleepily.
"Can I ask you something else?"
"Anything."
"What ever happened to Kay? I know you said that she said it was hopeless. But I don't buy that." I ask uneasily, knowing that he doesn't like bringing her up.
"Well," he sighs, "she did say that. But she also knew that you were in the picture and as long as you were, her and I could never have a chance." He says softly.
