To Forgive or Not To Forgive. OMORI (Sunburn)

Part 1: Only Escape

This fanfic isn't for the faint of heart and topics such as thoughts of suicide, depression, heavy cursing, and delusions. However, I promise that it will end on a good note. I don't own OMORI.

The battle for the mind was a hard fought one and in the end, Sunny prevailed against Omori. When Sunny awakens, he cries for accepting his mistakes and being free from the entity's control. Sunny tries to move, but he was overwhelmed by a wave of pain from his eye and chest.

...It hurts...Oh...I fought with Basil...he stabbed my eye and....

Sunny looks around to see that he is in a hospital room. The entire room is covered in flowers and beautiful plants sent from various people of Faraway. Sunny, however, didn't care much and slowly used all of his strength to get out of his hospital bed. Apparently, Basil has also managed to stab him in the sides with the same blade that he used to poke his eye. It was bad enough that stitches were needed to close the wound. Sunny was already pretty malnourished to begin with so the loss of blood affected his movements greatly.

...One more thing...

Sunny could tell that his friends were nearby. He doesn't know why, but he does. Sunny limps towards the room door and starts seeing his headspace friends and a stranger in the form of Basil. He was done with Headspace, but the loss of blood is beginning to affect his judgement somewhat. Sunny slowly decides to follow the shadow as he knew that it will lead him to the others.

...I see it...

Sunny opens the door to see Hero, Kel, Aubrey and Basil, who's in his hospital bed. Basil was somewhat awake but, doesn't seem to notice Sunny. The others had a mix of relief and concern.

"Hey Sunny! Glad your awake!" Kel enthusiastically says as he begins to walk towards Sunny.

"You shouldn't be moving around yet." Hero said as he holds Kel back. "You haven't been in the hospital for that long. You should head back."

Aubrey didn't say anything, but had a face of concern and sadness.

"I have to tell you something."

~3 minutes later...

...I did it....I...told them...

What seemed like forever, was barely a few minutes as Sunny laid the harsh truth about Mari's death to everyone. Everything was said. How he pushed his sister down the stairs killing her after a argument over a broken violin, Basil's idea on staging her death to be a suicide to keep him safe, why he scrubbed out the album with marker, and even what has happened during his four years of isolation regarding Headspace and his illusions. He looks at Basil who seems relieved to finally have to come clean and smiles. Sunny smiles just long enough for his friend to see, but it quickly vaporizes.

I'm done now....

Sunny didn't bother to look at the others to see their reactions and quickly left the room as fast he physically can. He could hear voices from behind him, but Sunny didn't want to look back to see what was happening. He quickly went back to his room and closed the door. Sunny starts to hyperventilate and stress out as he begins to accepts his own faults.

...I don't deserve forgiveness...

Sunny grabs the bouquets everyone gave him and he starts throwing them away in the trash one by one.

...I don't deserve redemption...

The sound of glass breaking is heard as the vases hit the bottom of the trash can. Sunny finally picks up the biggest flower bouquet sent by Hero, Kel, and Aubrey.
