Fluff. Just trying to fluff this fic a bit. I might've gone overboard since I don't know how to fluff, so be prepared. I don't own Omori.
"Monopolizing...."
After Aubrey's confrontation with Hero, the words he said continue to ring in her mind. Her contacts are starting to irritate her from all the crying and rubbing so she takes them off and tosses them to the side. After a while, It came to the point where Aubrey didn't even realize that she entered the hospital and is currently walking down the hall.
Immature...dangerous..unreliable...stubborn..
It wasn't until Aubrey reached Sunny's hospital room did her negative thoughts leave her. Still, Hero's voice continues to linger, but Aubrey ignores this and opens the door.
"Oh...Aubrey."
The first thing Aubrey hears is the soft voice of Sunny. When Aubrey looks up, her heart sinks when she sees Liz. She looks a bit disappointed. Aubrey can't blame her. She and Hero caused an argument, spilled soup, and possibly stressed Sunny.
"Where's the other man?" Liz asks.
"He..uh..needed to leave." Aubrey said.
Liz is a bit skeptical of Aubrey's explanation, but she didn't want to egg on the subject. Liz simply walks past Aubrey and prepares to head out.
"Aubrey." Liz said.
The pink haired teen looks at the nurse.
"I didn't hear a lot, but remember to do what you can do and let others do what you can't." Liz said. "Don't think that you should be the one to take a full burden."
Aubrey hums and nods in response to Liz's comment. Liz sees this and goes on her way. When Liz is out of sight, Aubrey moves up and pulls up a chair to sit next to Sunny. Silence fills the air.
"So...what happened between you and Hero?" Sunny asks. "Did you guys fight?"
Aubrey bites and decides to take one.
"Yeah."
"What were you arguing about? Was it my fault?"
Aubrey looks at Sunny in shock.
"Of course not!" Aubrey assures. "I...just got a reality check from Hero. That's all."
Sunny looks a bit relieved, but is still a bit bothered.
"Do you know what Hero was going to talk to me about?" Sunny asks.
Aubrey looks away from Sunny and shakes her head.
"I..I'm too stubborn to let him speak." Aubrey admits. "It's my fault that Hero couldn't say what he needed to say."
Aubrey feels something touch her hand. It was Sunny's hand. Aubrey looks at him only with a face of reassurance. It wasn't something out of pity, but something genuine.
"Sunny, tell me." Aubrey said as she leaned in towards Sunny. "Am I someone who's immature? Unreliable? Stubborn?"
Sunny tilts his head to the side in confusion. Aubrey unknowingly mimics Sunny, also confused.
"So what if you are?"
Huh?
"That's what makes you you."
Aubrey breathes a sigh of relief and leans her head onto Sunny's bed. That wasn't the answer she was hoping, but it was the best one she could ask for. Aubrey looks and turns to see the bowl that once had the chicken noodle soup. Aubrey couldn't help but feel guilt as she believes it was her own stubbornness that caused that mess.
