"Hey you two."
Coming into the room next to Liz is Hero. Sunny lets out a sigh of relief knowing the adult of the group, but not Aubrey. Aubrey is still on edge with Hero after his last stunt. No way she's keeping her guard down. Hero also notices this.
"I thought you might be hungry so I made some soup." Hero said in a shaky voice. "I remember you liked chicken noodle, right Sunny?"
Sunny nods a bit as he stares at Hero's plastic bag. It was no surprise that he's hungry at this point.
"I believe you guys need some time alone." Liz said. "I'll check on you guys a bit later."
Once Liz left, the atmosphere stiffened. Getting close to teens was hard for him. Hero starts by pulling up a seat and table. Then, he puts his bag on top of the table. Hero can feel Aubrey glare at him as he moves every inch.
"Umm, I did know how much of an appetite you would have so I made a normal bowlful." Hero said, picking a red bowl that is covered with plastic. "I also brought some saltine crackers just in case and utensils."
Before can make another move, Aubrey grabs the bag and shakes it upside down which allows the contents to land on the table.
"C'mon Aubrey. I didn't poison the food." Hero said with a hesitant chuckle.
Aubrey didn't seem to take Hero's joke lightly. Sunny tries to move his fingers and is able to bend them so grabbing a spoon should be no problem.
"Aubrey...help."
Aubrey turns to see pointing at the tray from across the bed. Aubrey begins to get up.
"Here I'll get it."
Hero beats Aubrey to the punch and goes to get the tray for Sunny. Aubrey, obviously upset, sits back down and taps her foot, an annoyance.
"Is there good Sunny?" Hero asks as he puts the tray in front of him.
"Yeah." Sunny said with a nod.
Hero goes to grab the soup, but when he turns to look for it. He was surprised to see it was gone.
"I can eat by myself."
"Shut up and eat."
Hero turns to see Aubrey spoon feeding Sunny. While she does so, Aubrey takes some quick glances at Hero.
What was the point of giving him the tray if she was going to feed him anyways?
Hero sits away from the pair idly and watches. Hero had a feeling that both of them had some kind of attraction for one another, but he would never predict it would be under these circumstances.
"Hey Aubrey, mind if I help Sunny eat?" Hero asks. "You know it's been awhile since I've done something like this to him."
Aubrey looks at Hero for a moment. Sunny was about to speak, but...
"No."
Hero didn't expect Aubrey to be so straightforward.
"Uhh, ok."
Sunny looks at Aubrey with a hint of concern. Aubrey clicks her tongue at this and moves out of the way. She moves to the side and starts to mumble. Hero took the hint and carefully walked past Aubrey and sat next to Sunny. He took the soup and began to feed him.
"Remember that one day that you went out in the rain with the others?" Hero asks Sunny. "Everyone was soaking wet except for you, but you were the only one who got a cold."
