Chapter 20, Maylin

When Samson announced that the Aven clan was attacking humans my blood ran cold, how could they do this. At the same time I grew furious normally I was able to keep my emotions under check and I wasn't the only one to get angry easily but they were not only going against my orders but they were killing innocent people, people that had nothing to do with the creature world.
"When I get my hands on them they will regret the day that they decided to make me their leader while still following those elders" I promised out loud pulling my hair up into a bun.
"Are you sure about this? Do you really want to fight?" Charlie questioned.
"Hopefully I can get there and convince them to stop their attack and then I can talk about the treaty but if it comes down to fighting then so be it" I said.
"If it comes to that then leave the fighting to me, you young ones have suffered enough for our mistakes so you don't need to fight anymore" said Michael firmly.
"With all due respect sir, they are my clan so I won't let someone else deal with them seeing as I am partly to blame for this but I will accept your help if you wish to lend it" I accepted as we turned to the man.
"Angeni can you find somewhere to treat Samson and also detain Mother, Gloria and Bruce?" Charlie asked and Angeni nodded her head.
"I have the perfect place for them and I have a friend that can help Samson so just be safe and make sure that all of you come back alive" said Angeni and we set off. 

When we finally got to the street they were attacking I stopped in shock. What had probably once been a lively street filled with shops and humans was now in ruin. Half of the buildings were reduced to rubble while the other half was damaged and some were even on fire adding to the chaos. The road was also missing pieces but what shocked and hurt me the most was the bodies all around. Humans and creatures that more than likely had nothing to do this were dead and their bodies laying all over the street. Some were whole, others had been ripped apart and some had even been crushed from the collapsing buildings.
"Fall back and protect the humans that are hurt and panicking, make sure that you take care of yourself and others as well" ordered Michael to the Wolven clan was there already and before he went with the clan he shot a look at us.
"Be careful, if you die we will never be able to become better brothers" said Joshua and Charlie nodded as Joshua and Samual left with their father.
"I have our clans coming as well, don't worry though some of the women and children will be staying at the clan to make sure that Kerri, Justin and the kids are alright" said Daniel.
"We aren't being sexist though, we don't allow mothers and children to fight and don't worry my clan has always fed on animals but even we will fight in this battle" said Sally looking determined.
"We'll go find some people to help and start putting barriers up to protect the humans and keep others out of here unless we let them in" said Kieran as he, Shawn and Eric left.
"I'm going to find the elders and talk to them" I told Charlie.
"And I'm going with you, your going to need someone to watch your back after all it's a battlefield out there and you won't know who to trust so I will make sure your back is protected" said Charlie and I knew that there was no time to argue about this so I nodded allowing him to come with him. Dodging attacks, dead bodies and rubble we tried to help who we could along the way of searching for the elders. Finally I saw them Tracey, Alan and Elizabeth were standing at one of the ends of the streets in front of a large department store that was on fire. My blood boiled when I saw they were standing there smirking and looking proud of themselves for this destruction.

"What do you think you're doing?!" I exploded as I climbed over some rubble to get to them.
"Ah Maylin, good to see you. You're just in time to watch us destroy this place and get rid of these human's" said Tracey.
"You're not destroying anything else, why would you do this? They are innocent people most of them don't even know about the supernatural world so why? Especially after I ordered you not to kill humans or creatures" I demanded wanting an explanation for their actions.
"Tch as if we would actually follow anything you told us, we needed a figure-head to stop the clan from pulling part so you were the perfect person and it worked" boasted Tracey.
"In fact you were nothing but a tool, must hurt" said Elizabeth pompously.
"Truthfully deep inside I already knew that this was going to happen it is why I kept myself from the clan, I have been studying by myself and trained by myself after the first month so no one would be able to know what I could do" I said my eyes hardened as they looked at me in shock.
"Of course I had hoped I was wrong so I tried to give you the benefit of the doubt and hoped you would realise that humans were just as important but now I realise that my fears were correct" I sighed.
"Humans are nothing but cattle, they should grovel at our feet and beg to live even if they deserved to die" sneered Elizabeth.
"Without humans we can't survive, you must have pushed it out of your mind that there are plenty of creatures that need to feed on humans" said Charlie.
"This is none of your business snake freak" sneered Alan.
"This is my business seeing as you are senselessly attacking humans, the Wolven clan knew that this would happen hence why we fought to stop you" announced Charlie using the information we had found out against them.
"So you are the person that filled your head with this foolishness Maylin" said Tracey and I glared at her.
"No, I didn't have anyone filling my head with anything except for you trying to fill my head with false information" I said.
"I've already found out the truth about why the war started, the Aven clan were going rogue, refusing to help the humans and then attacking them as well trying to wipe out human life" I sneered.
"So you have found out the truth but it doesn't matter if you know the truth it won't change anything" sneered Alan. A man was running past with a child hugged tightly in his arms caught my eyes and it only took one moment for them to start moving. Quickly moving I pushed the man down and behind me and I braced myself waiting for the pain, I managed to stop one of the taloned hands but the other one ripped into my side.
"Princess" cried out the one that had been going to attack the man until I stopped her.
"What do you think you're doing? He has a child in his arms and he is human don't you dare attack him unless you want to die" I roared out holding my side as blood poured out of the cuts.
"B-But princess, the elders told us that you ordered this attack" whimpered the woman.
"Lies the elders are traitors, you are not to attack humans was that not one of the first rules that I gave you guys" I reminded her.
"Forgive me Princess, I have disobeyed you" she cried out as she fell to her knees.
"You can apologise and repent later for now you are to get this man and his child to safety and spread my order to stop this attack at once" I ordered and she nodded, getting to her feet and scrambling to help the man and child.
"It looks like talking isn't going to work so we will have to fight but for now stay still" said Charlie as he ripped up some shirts from the store behind us and used it to wrap my stomach to stop the blood.
"Look out!" I screamed, knocking him out of the way as Elizabeth attacked us. Being slammed into the ground with an injured side wasn't good especially when I hit my head but I got my feet on Elizabeth's stomach and tried to kick her off. It didn't work out how I thought it would as she dodged my feet and when I got up she got behind me and dug her taloned feet into my back.
"You were a pest from the start but now though it's time for you to die but before that you get to see the show" smirked Elizabeth grabbing my hair and pulling my head up. My blood went cold and I stopped fighting for a bit when I saw that Alan and Tracey were both attacking Charlie. While he would normally always win his fights this time he was two people that were older and in their half forms while Charlie was in full human form. Finally realising just how much danger Charlie was in I managed to break away from Elizabeth with strength I didn't realise that I had and ran towards Charlie at least I was until some woman stopped me by jumping in front of me. I could tell that she was a Naga from the way she had moved and she had taken her half Naga form now.
"I won't let you near Charlie, he doesn't need you all he needs is me" growled the woman.
"May, what the hell are you doing?" yelled Charlie, which gave me the woman's name.
"I won't allow you to go near Charlie bird scum, he is mine and I won't let anyone else touch him not now and not ever" snarled May with a glare as she swiped at me but I dodged.
"May she isn't our enemy she is trying to put a stop to this, dammit" cried out Charlie as Alan managed to hit Charlie. Unfortunately that distracted me enough that May managed to dive at me with an angry cry and a glare and I knew that I wouldn't have time to dodge the attack. Closing my eyes I waited for the pain to come but it never came all I felt was two large arms wrapping around my shoulders. Opening my eyes they went wide in horror as I realised that Charlie was hugging me around the neck and there were deep gashes on his back.
"Charlie? Charlie" I called held him up before I gently lowered him down to the ground.
"Maylin.....Love you" wheezed Charlie before his eyes closed as he passed out. Suddenly it felt like my world had ended, that everything had stopped and like I couldn't get any air in my lungs.
"No, no Charlie come on, open your eyes for me please" I pleaded but nothing happened.
"This wasn't what was meant to happen" said May as she backed away before she took off running but right now I was worried about Charlie.
"Well at least that Wolven scum got what he deserved" sneered Tracey and it was like something inside of me broke.
"You did this, you took him from me, give him back" I whispered standing up and leaving him laying there.
"I'll kill you" I roared in fury as pain erupted from my back and I flew forward in an attack against Elizabeth, Alan and Tracey. 

I wasn't exactly sure when I blacked out or even when I closed my eyes but when I opened them all I could see was black.
"Did I die then?" I questioned myself.
"Not quite yet, though it could happen while you are here" said a familiar voice. Looking around I tried to place where I had heard that voice when it hit me. It was the voice from my dream's the one that kept on speaking about the awakening which meant that I was probably going to get another message.
"Are you going to tell me another cryptic message about some sort of awakening before leaving me to figure it out myself?" I asked the voice.
"No because the awakening is happening as we speak" said the voice and the more I listened to the voice it sounded familiar to another voice I had heard.
"Who are you anyway? And what's this awakening you keep saying about? Don't I deserve some answers after all this time" I said.
"Oh right you probably don't remember me and now I can finally explain everything" said a voice as a light someone on someone making me blink since it was so bright.
"Nathan or well Father" I said, surprised to see him.
"It's okay you don't need to force yourself to call me Father after all you were raised by someone else" smiled Nathan.
"What is going on at the moment? You are meant to be dead I mean I saw it" I cried out.
"I am dead now and we are on short time so I will have to explain what I need to before I run out of time, firstly at the moment your own body is at war with itself" started Nathan.
"Your Couatl blood is fighting your human side, see Couatls are devoted to the good of the world" explained Nathan.
"And my human side is attacking the elders because of Charlie, blaming them instead of May and because I am trying to kill them my creature doesn't agree" I finished for him.
"Exactly you have lost yourself to anger therefore triggering the awakening of your creature side that I had sealed away when you were just a week old" He explained.
"Why did you lock my creature side away?" I asked.
"Because of the Aven clan, we knew that they would try and use you because of how powerful you would be along with you being a Couatl so we made it seem like you had no creature side until the seal couldn't hold it back anymore" Nathan told me.
"That isn't the only thing is it?" I questioned.
"No, I knew that the Aven clan were hunting us down already so I knew that we were going to be killed if we didn't manage to get away or fight them off so I want to make sure that you would fit into any family you were put in, we wanted you to have a normal life" smiled Nathan.
"I can understand that but right now, how do I stop myself? There has to be a way" I said.
"Someone close to you must stop your rage and then once you come back to yourself partly you need to accept your creature side because it's who you are" Nathan explained as he started to fade away.
"Wait I still have so much to ask you and tell you about" I burbled out reaching out for him.
"I know you do but we are out of time, there is a lot of things that I want to ask you and find out about you as well but there isn't time I want you to know me and your Mama loved you and don't regret anything, don't worry we will watch over you forever" called Nathan tears streaming down his face as he started to fade away.
"Wait don't go please, don't leave me alone" I begged but it was too late as he had already faded away. I wanted to cry, scream or throw a tantrum, after all, I had finally met my real father but he was taken from me once again but for now I couldn't think about that. Somehow I needed to snap out of my rage and stop my own attack and then deal with the elders after that I could mourn my birth parents.
