(Y/n) walked into the Albert Park venue as she was going to surprise Daniel,

She had struggled to get to his races due to Covid-19 but when Lando asked if she wanted to come for the Australian leg she couldn't say no.

"You made it!" Lando smiled as he saw the girl's familiar hat,

"Of course I did," (Y/n) as she turned to look at him,

"Couldn't be having Dan out here alone," she added as she tucked her hair behind her ears,

"(Y/n)?" Daniel pushed his headphones to his neck as he cocked his head,

"Hi," the girl smiled as she sent him a smile,

"What are you doing here?" He asked as he pulled her into a hug,

They easily hadn't seen each other in a couple of months.

"Well I was in the area," (Y/n) joked as she patted his back enjoying the familiar scent of his cologne that filled her nostrils,

"Wait really?" Daniel cocked his head as he assumed that she was working,

"Nah Lando invited me," the girl let out a soft laugh as she shook her head,

"Said I should come if I was free," she added as she turned around to look for the Brit,

"Where did he go?" Lando must have walked off as he was nowhere to be seen,

"You get used to him quietly leaving after a while," the boy explained as the girl nodded,

"Did you just fly in?" He added as he cocked his head,

"Yeah," the girl nodded as she pulled her cap off to fix her hair,

"Come on then, let's go to my motor home." Daniel held his hand out for the girl to grab so he wouldn't lose her in the crowd.

The race had ended and (Y/n) found herself stood with his parents,

"So how have you been with work?" Grace asked as she cocked her head,

"Honestly it's been hectic so I'm glad that I get a moment to myself to come to see Dan," (Y/n) smiled as she fiddled with the end of the jacket that she was now keeping ahold of for Daniel,

"He has been talking about how he missed seeing you around," Joe knew that it was no secret that the duo missed each other,

"Really?" The girl was taken by surprise at the comment,

"Yeah," the older woman nodded as she crossed her arms,

"I'm surprised that you two are just friends," she added as she blurted it out,

"Grace," Joe spoke in a warning tone,

"I'm sorry that just came out," Grace apologised as she sent the girl a soft smile,

"Oh don't worry about that," (Y/n) shook her head as she ran her fingers through the ends of her hair,

"Everyone always jokes about it," she added as she looked into the distance and locked eyes with Daniel.

It was later that weekend when (Y/n) found herself sat in Daniel's kitchen,

"What are you thinking about?" Daniel asked as he watched the girl look off into the distance,

"(Y/n)?" He added as he placed his hand on her arm,

"You shouldn't look at me like that and then say that we are just friends." (Y/n) spoke bluntly as she turned to him,

"Like what?" The boy cocked his head as he dropped his hand as he furrowed his eyebrows,

"I see the way you look at me," the girl explained as she let out a sigh,

"Everyone does," she added as she shook her head,

"And it fucks with my head," she could help but wonder why he would send her the longing glances and never backed them up with anything else.

"(Y/n)-" Daniel began as he ran his fingers through his hair,

"Just tell me where we stand?" (Y/n) spoke in what was barely a whisper at this point,

"Because I can't tell anymore," she added as she picked at her nails,

"You going to say anything?" The girl watched as he stood there quietly,

"I don't want to just be friends," the boy explained as he rubbed his thumb on her arm,

"Good," (Y/n) couldn't help but feel a smile form on her face,

"Because I don't want to either," she added as she placed her hand on his cheek before she pulled him in for a soft kiss.
