Max was at the height of his season right now,

He was back to leading the championship and everyone was happen except his girlfriend.

"Remind me why you aren't here again?" Pierre asked as he looked at the girl through their FaceTime call,

It was the middle of the Dutch GP so it was weird to not see Max's girlfriend there for everyone.

"A work thing came up," now this was a complete lie,

(Y/n) decided that she wasn't going to spend her weekends at the races each time if Max would just ignore her.

"You know he misses you," the boy truthfully didn't actually know but he wanted his best friend back in the paddock.

"I'll see him either when he comes home or after Monza," the girl spoke in a duh tone as she was in the middle of making herself lunch.

"You're not going next week either!" Pierre let out a groan as he couldn't believe what he was hearing,

"I can't just drop everything for the races." (Y/n) grumbled as she was growing annoyed,

"Is there something going on between you two," the boy asked as he could tell that there was something bugging her,

"Honestly Pierre I want to say it's just a rough patch but I don't know anymore." The girl couldn't help but chew the inside of her cheek as she wondered how much longer could this really go on.

Max had been home enjoying the break after Monza.

"It's a gorgeous day outside so I was wondering if you wanted to go to the beach," (Y/n) asked as she cocked her head,

"Because Charlotte was saying that they would be down there-" she added as she was about to read out the message to him,

"I'm busy," Max cut her off as he turned to her,

"We don't have to go now," the girl spoke in a soft voice as she placed her phone in her back pocket,

"What part of I'm busy do you not understand?" The boy let out a groan as he muted himself as he was obviously on a call with his friends,

"I've been working my ass off the past three weeks and I don't want to go to the beach!" He added as he rolled his eyes,

"I'm sorry I asked," (Y/n) apologised as she ran her fingers through her hair,

"I'll tell them we can't go." She added as she nodded,

"Could you leave the door open?" Max asked as the cats had been going in and out since then,

"Sure," the girl couldn't help but let out a sigh as she walked out of the room.

About twenty minutes had gone by and Max was in the middle of changing playlists when he finally heard it,

(Y/n) was currently sat outside on the balcony crying because she had finally had enough.

It was the one and only sound that could break Max.

"Schatje?" Max asked as he looked at her,

"Hey," (Y/n) was quick to while her eyes,

"Do you want to work out? Because I can-" she added as she was about to get up but was then stopped,

"Are you alright?" The boy placed his hand on her knee as he sat next to her,

"Yeah I'm fine," the girl nodded as she forced a smile on her face,

"Tell me the truth," Max spoke softly as he was genuinely concerned for her,

"I'm just not a priority to you, am I?" (Y/n) asked in a serious tone,

"Of course you are," the boy was surprised that she was even asking that,

"Max be honest with me here," the girl tucked her hair behind her ear,

"If you don't love me anymore I need to know because I'm not going to waste my time waiting around for you to say it." She added as she wasn't going to be with someone who didn't feel the same way that she did,

"Is this because I didn't want to go to the beach with you?" Max raised his eyebrows as he leaned back in the chair.

"I didn't even want to go to the beach," (Y/n) confessed as she sniffled.

"Then why you ask in the first place?" The boy asked as he cocked his head,

"Because I wanted to spend time with you and figured if there were other people around you would be more likely to agree." The girl explained as she let out a sigh,

"What is wrong, tell me the truth." Max went back to his question that he asked her at the beginning,

"Whenever I go to your races now you don't even look at me." (Y/n) wasn't an idiot and she could understand if it was because he was focused on the race,

"And we barely talk when we're home," but the issue was that it went beyond his job as well,

"Have I done something to annoy you?" She added as she wanted him to tell her the truth,

"Of course not." The boy shook his head,

"I'm sorry, I've been so busy thinking about work that I've started leaving something very important to me on the sidelines." He added as he traced his fingers on her thigh,

"I love you Max, but if this is going to be a constant occurrence for us then tell me now." The girl sent him a serious look,

"It won't be, I promise." Max was being genuine as he watched as the girl shifted in her seat and rest her head on his shoulder,

And from that day on at the end of every race, win or lose, there was one person he would go and find first.
