This chapter inspired by me wanting to rant about math

Hajime walked downstairs with a tray in his hands and a book under his arm. His mom had asked him to bring Nagito some dinner since he was probably hungry. Hajime didn't object since she was probably right, and he kind of wanted to see Nagito again. It wasn't every day he met a human with wings. He didn't really care how difficult Nagito was being, Hajime just wanted to have a conversation with him.

Hajime knocked on the door, opened it, and walked into the guest room where Nagito was. Nagito was sulking in the guest bed until he saw Hajime with a tray of food. "Is that for me?" He asked.

Hajime rolled his eyes. "No, it's for the other boy with wings that lives in my house. Yes, it's for you." Then he set the tray on Nagito's lap. The tray had some Mac and cheese on it and a glass of water. Nagito looked at it hungrily before saying, "Oh Hajime, it looks absolutely delicious! Thank you for making food for an intruder like me."

"Umm ok? You aren't an intruder. We took you in." That was an odd thing to say, Hajime thought.

"Might I ask... what is it?"

"The food?"

"Yes. I've never seen it before."

"It's Mac and cheese. How do you not know what Mac and cheese is?"

"I've never had it before."

"YOU'VE NEVER HAD MAC AND CHEESE?!" Nagito flinched as Hajime raised his voice. Hajime immediately felt bad and apologized. Nagito just nodded and started eating. Hajime studied Nagito's face, looking for his reaction to eating Mac and cheese for the first time. Nagito took a bite, chewed for a minute, then his entire face lit up. "Mmmm! So delicious!"

Hajime laughed. "I'm glad you like it." Nagito just nodded. "So much flavor! We never get anything with this much flavor at the School!" Nagito said. The School? What was that?

"What's the School?" Hajime asked. A look of fear spread to Nagito's face and scooped some macaroni into his mouth so he didn't have to answer. Hajime glared. "Nagito, you can't hide your identity forever. Just tell me what the School is. Is it where you came from?" Nagito shook his head and continued stuffing his face with Mac and cheese. Hajime sighed and gave up. There was no way Nagito was going to talk to him right now.

Hajime sat down in a chair next to Nagito's bed and opened his book. He was visually displeased with the contents inside the book.

"What's wrong Hajime?" Nagito asked.

"Nothing, just studying for finals." Hajime sighed. Hajime hated finals, but then again, what teenager didn't?

"What's finals?" Nagito said. Hajime just stared at Nagito. First, the wacko didn't know what Mac and cheese was. And now he didn't know what finals were? What, did he live under a rock?

"You don't know what finals are??"

"Nope."

"Did you not go to school? You mentioned the School before, how do you not know what finals are?" Nagito thought about this for a second. "Define the school you are talking about. You mean like a public school, for lots of children my age?" Well that was an odd way to put it, but he wasn't wrong, so Hajime nodded. "Oh, well then, I haven't," Nagito said. Huh, he was probably homeschooled then, Hajime thought. Which made sense. He was a boy with bright white Angel wings for Pete's sake. The world was probably pretty dangerous for someone like him.

Hajime went back to his book and flipped through some pages, getting bored out of his mind. None of this math made sense!

"What are you studying?" Nagito asked, trying to look at Hajime's book.
