Nagito hadn't the faintest idea of what was happening. At first, he thought the fall had killed him. Oh, how delightful would that have been? Sometimes, back at the School, Nagito longed for the sweet relief of death. So he wouldn't be poked and prodded and tested anymore.
But he was clearly alive, he could hear himself breathing, and feel his heart pumping. So he wasn't dead. But he was in immense pain. His leg and wing hurt like hell. What had happened? Nagito also didn't know where he was. He was just, floating around in his mind somewhere. That was kind of peaceful. Just floating in the deep oblivion of his mind, with nothing to worry about. No School, no wings, no Doctors or Guards. Just himself.
But something told him he needed to wake up. He didn't know what it was. Just something. But he didn't want to. He liked this peaceful place in his mind, he never wanted to leave. But the voice persisted, saying that he needed to wake up. He stayed asleep for a bit longer before he decided to stop being lazy. He needed to know where he was, and assess the damage the fall had done to him, which was probably a lot. He hoped and prayed he wasn't back at the School, but then again, if he was, they would have woken him by now. So he was somewhere else. He remembered seeing trees as he fell, so he was probably in the middle of the woods somewhere. Perfect place to start his new life.
So Nagito opened his eyes. He slowly became aware of the world around him. He wasn't cold, he was actually quite warm. There was something covering him up, to protect him from the cold. A word formed in his mind. Blanket. Who had covered him in a blanket? He realized he was in a bed, not on the ground. The bed was soft and squishy. Very comfortable.
Nagito's eyes were now all the way open. He was not staring up at the sky. He was staring at a ceiling. He was in... a place. Who had brought him here? He started to worry as he scanned his surroundings, survival instincts kicking in. He didn't know who had brought him here, didn't know if they were good or bad. Most likely bad. He was a human with wings. Something never seen before. If the School was horrible, who knew what unintelligent people would do to a mutant as vulnerable as him? He was ready to fight whoever brought him here, no matter how injured he was.
As he looked around the room some more, Nagito decided he was in some sort of bedroom. At least it was nice. There was a window in the room letting some air and sunshine in. It felt nice. Nagito tried sitting up but a pain in his wing stopped him short. His wings were folded, and he felt something on his right wing, something tight. What was that? He felt the same tightness around his left leg. That just confused Nagito even more. Was he tied up? He moved his arms around a bit and determined that those were free. So he wasn't tied down. Great. Now he needed to get out of here. But it hurt to sit up. Words rang in his mind again, no pain, no gain. So Nagito again tried to sit up, ignoring the pain in his wing.
"Hey, you're awake!" A voice said beside Nagito. Nagito let out a scream of fear. There was someone in there with him! How had he not noticed them? Nagito was getting frantic and tried to sit up faster. "No! Don't do that! Stop! You'll hurt yourself even more!" The voice said. Then Nagito saw the person who was in the room with him for the first time. It was a boy, probably about his age. He had brown, spiky hair and a tan. He also had a worried expression on his face. The boy put his hands on Nagito's shoulders and tried pushing him back down. Nagito decided this boy was bad news.
"Let me go!" Nagito screamed, fighting against him.
"Hey calm down!" The boy said back. "I'm trying to help you, idiot!" Was he really trying to help Nagito? How was Nagito supposed to tell? No one had ever tried to help him in his life, there was no reason for life to start helping him now.
Nagito fought against the boy harder. "I don't want your help! Leave me alone!"
"You better lay down or I'll ask my mom to put you to sleep so you don't hurt yourself anymore!" The boy growled. That startled Nagito. Put him to sleep? Why? What had he done wrong? They weren't going to do any tests on him, right?
