Nagito turned around in the mirror one last time. He was impressed. He couldn't see his wings at all, he couldn't even tell he had wings. He was wearing the green jacket Jane had gotten him for Christmas. It was army green, with different red designs on it, and the back was cut; it almost looked like a tail. And Nagito loved everything about it. Especially the fact that he could hide his wings. That was important. Because today was his first day of school.

Nagito heard banging on the door. "Hey, Nagito? You almost done?" Hajime asked.

"Yeah!" Nagito called back as he grabbed his backpack from his bed and slung it over his shoulder. Jane had assured him he had everything he needed in there, even after Nagito had asked her a million times.

Nagito walked out of his room and met with Hajime. Hajime stared at Nagito with wide eyes. Nagito frowned. "Is something wrong?"

"No! Not at all! Its... it's all right in fact!" Hajime stuttered, then blushed and looked at the ground. "I- uh, what I mean to say is... you look good." Nagito didn't know how to respond exactly, so he just said, "Oh, thanks. I'm glad you think so." He smiled at Hajime, but Hajime was still staring at the ground, rocking back and forth on his feet. What was with him? They stood like that awkwardly for a bit until Jane called the boys upstairs. Nagito happily ate a bagel for breakfast before Jane asked them to get in the car. Hajime was disappointed because he wanted Nagito to fly him to school, but that was dangerous to the both of them, especially Nagito. It was one thing flying in Jane's backyard, but another flying in public, where people could see him, especially people who worked with the School.

On the way to school, Nagito was jittery with excitement, but Hajime was a nervous wreck. He was staring at his hands the entire time, and he kept wringing them over and over again.

"Hajime, are you alright?" Nagito asked worriedly. Hajime looked up at Nagito and put on a fake smile, but Nagito could see his gaze clouded with fear. "I'm alright," he said.

"You aren't fine, you're obviously troubled with something. Do you dislike school?" Hajime didn't say anything before he sighed and started spilling out his fears one by one. "I mean... it's school! There's so much to worry about, like classes, tests, and grades! There's the entirety of math class I worry about. And then you're just starting! I worry about you too! I only have a couple of classes with you, but the rest you'll have to figure out on your own! And not just that, but my friends too. What if they don't like you? What if you aren't able to make your own friends-"

Nagito clamped a hand over Hajime's mouth before he could continue. "Those are all valid things to be concerned about. But I know it'll be fine. Your classes will be fine, and I'll be fine," Nagito tried to reassure Hajime. In truth, Nagito was nervous as well, but he needed to make Hajime feel better.

Hajime gave a slow nod. Nagito took his hand away. "You know what helps me?" Nagito asked. "Just focusing on breathing." Hajime looked confused, so Nagito taught Hajime some ways to control his breathing to calm his nerves.

Soon enough, they arrived at the high school. Nagito was buzzing with excitement. Finally! A chance to go to a real school with real students! Both Nagito and Hajime hopped out of the car before Jane drove away. Then Hajime was met by a boy who tackled him in a hug. The boy had neon pink hair, a grey beanie, and sharp pointy teeth.

"Yooooo! Hajime! It's been foreverrrrr!" The boy grinned while practically suffocating Hajime.

"Yeah... sure..." Hajime said with a strained voice. "Kaz... you're... you're killing me..."

"Oh, sorry about that," the boy, Kaz, laughed and let Hajime go. Hajime took a breath of relief and shook his head clear. Nagito didn't know what to make of this Kaz person. He had almost killed Hajime for one and had neon pink hair. He also smelled funny.

Kaz finally turned his head and noticed Nagito. "Oh? Who's he?" He asked Hajime. Nagito opened his mouth to introduce himself when Hajime interrupted, saying, "Oh! He's just a- uh- foreign exchange student!" Nagito was confused. What was a foreign exchange student? Nagito knew the basics of the world but he didn't know much about high school.

Nagito was about to ask Hajime what exactly a foreign exchange student was before Kaz said, "Oh cool, where is he from?" Nagito noticed a look of fear on Hajime's face.

"Ummm... France." Were the words out of Hajime's mouth. Nagito was even more confused. He wasn't from France. He was from here, as far as he knew. Kaz's eyes lit up. "Cool! He can help me with my French homework! Hey, say something in French!" He gave Nagito a giddy look. Now Hajime had a look of utter horror on his face. Nagito didn't know why. Saying something in French was all he needed to do to prove he was a 'foreign exchange student'? Well... alright then. Nagito opened his mouth and started speaking in fluent French. "Enchanté de vous rencontrer Kaz. J' espère qu'on deviendra bons amis." Both Hajime and Kaz stared at Nagito open-mouthed.

"Oh my god man that's so awesome!" Kaz screamed excitedly. Nagito didn't know what he did that was so impressive. Then Kaz grabbed Nagito's hand and started shaking it. While he was shaking it he spoke in a long, drawn-out voice, "My... name... is... Kazuichi... soda. Nice... to... meet... you." Nagito sighed. "You know I can speak English right?"

"Oh! Sweet!" Kaz, or Kazuichi, chirped. Hajime meanwhile had a look of relief on his face. Nagito smiled. He was glad he could make Hajime happy. He would have to ask Hajime what a foreign exchange student was later. Kaz still hadn't let go of Nagito's hand, so Nagito decided now would be a good time to introduce himself. He decided to do it in French since that was the act he was playing apparently. "Je m'appelle Nagito Komaeda. Plaisir de vous rencontrer Kaz."

"I... umm... Er... mind saying that in English?" Kaz asked.

"Oh, of course. My name is Nagito Komaeda. It is a pleasure to meet you, Kaz. Well, umm, is your name Kaz or Kazuichi?" Nagito asked. Kazuichi looked offended. "Hey! Only Hajime gets to call me Kaz!" Nagito turned red from embarrassment. "Oh, s-sorry."

"It's alright, you didn't know," Hajime said quickly. He grabbed Nagito's arm and started dragging him into school. "Nice seeing you Kaz I'll introduce Nagito more formally at lunch ok bye!" Kazuichi gave a confused wave as Nagito and Hajime entered the school together.

"Well he was... pleasant," Nagito hummed as they walked through the school hallways. Nagito focused on memorizing every twist and turn so he could find his classrooms.

"Yeah..." Hajime scratched the back of his neck.

"You seemed nervous around Kazuichi. Why?" Nagito asked.

"I wasn't nervous for myself. I was nervous for... for you." That answer took Nagito completely by surprise.

"Nervous for me? Why?"

"Well, Kaz can be... a bit much at times. He's not the first friend I would have introduced you to."

"He was alright."

"Well... I'm glad you think so." Hajime gave what was probably the millionth sigh of relief today. They walked silently together before Hajime spoke again. "By the way, how the hell did you say all that?"

"What?"

"You know French?"

"Of course I know French. Doesn't everyone?"

"No!?"

"Oh," Nagito wrung his hands a few times. "Is that weird?"

"No!" Hajime said quickly. A little too quickly. "It... it's quite impressive in fact! Do you know any other languages?"

"A couple."

"How many is a couple?"

"Well, I know Russian. And Latin."

"RUSSIAN?! LATIN?!" Nagito really didn't know whether to be proud or ashamed. Hajime said it was impressive but he was also yelling. But Hajime's eyes sparkled as he said, "Latin is a dead language! And you're fluent in it?"

"Umm... yes?"

"Oh my god wow that's so impressive! How the hell did you learn three languages?" That's when Nagito shut his mouth. He didn't want to talk about the painful process of learning different languages.

"I don't know... I guess I was taught those languages as well as English."

"Wow... you just keep getting better and better," Hajime mumbled while turning a slight shade of pink. Nagito blushed as well. "I- I'm glad you think so!" Soon, both boys arrived at their homeroom and started Nagito's first day of school.
