"A school dance? Already? But we just got back," a girl with pink hair and a game boy in her hands named Chiaki complained as she stared at a poster on the wall advertising a school dance that was supposed to happen in a couple of weeks. "Why are we having a school dance when we literally just got back from winter break?"

"Would the excuse 'because it's a fanfiction' settle it?" Kazuichi asked.

"No," Chiaki sighed.

"Well, then it's because the school dance scheduled in December got canceled," Kazuichi argued.

"Ok, that makes more sense," Chiaki nodded. Hajime wasn't paying attention to their conversation. He was too busy worrying about Nagito. They only had homeroom and math together, and math was later today, so Hajime hadn't seen Nagito in a while. Hajime didn't know why he was so worked up. He was so worried about Nagito. He kept telling himself that Nagito was fine, but he had a hard time believing it. Hajime kept telling himself over and over what could go wrong with the day. Nagito could freak out and not understand what something was, he could get picked on by some dumb people, someone from the School could find him and drag him back to the horrible lab he came from...

Kazuichi snapped his fingers in Hajime's face. "Hey, earth to Hajime! What are you staring at? You really wanna go to the school dance that badly?" Hajime hadn't realized his gaze had landed on the school dance poster. Hajime shook his head clear. "No, it's not that. I'm just worried about Nagito. I told him beforehand where we usually eat lunch but what if he got lost-"

"Wait, who?" Chiaki asked, not looking up from her Gameboy.

"Nagito. You know, the foreign exchange student from France that Hajime FORGOT to mention to us," Kazuichi folded his arms and glared at Hajime.

"Look I- I'm sorry! I really am!" Hajime had no idea where the foreign exchange student thing came from. It was the first thing that came to mind when Hajime was trying to figure out a way to cover up why Nagito suddenly existed and was living with Hajime. It was pure luck that Hajime chose a region Nagito could speak the language from.

"A foreign exchange student? Who?" A female voice asked. A pale girl with long blonde hair and a blue-green dress named Sonia appeared and sat down with the group of friends.

"Heh, they're probably from some lame-ass country," another voice retorted as they slapped their tray on the table and sat down. It was a small blonde boy with a bit of a babyface named Fuyuhiko. He was a guy who could kill you and wouldn't hesitate to. Half of Hajime was pretty sure Fuyuhiko worked for a mafia somewhere.

"Hajime's got a foreign exchange student from France apparently," Kazuichi shrugged. Sonia smiled. "Oh, how delightful! When will I get the pleasure of meeting them?"

"Right now," a voice behind them spoke. Relief hit Hajime as Nagito sank down into a seat. Nagito looked at everyone at the table and smiled. "I'm guessing these were the friends Hajime was telling me about?"

"You told him about us but not us about him?" Kazuichi grumbled under his breath. The rest of the table ignored him. Sonia stuck out her hand and Nagito shook it. "I am Sonia Nevermind! I'm very delighted to meet you!"

"Nagito Komaeda, the pleasure is all mine," Nagito smiled back. Sonia took her hand away, and Chiaki glanced upwards at Nagito. "Chiaki Nanami," she mumbled lazily before turning back to her game.

"What are you playing?" Nagito asked her.

"Kirby," Chiaki responded back.

"Oh, I've never heard of it," Nagito said cheerily. Chiaki stopped short and practically glared at Nagito. "You've never heard or Kirby?" Hajime shot Nagito a warning glance. He was going to have to talk to Nagito about questioning everything.
