Tonight might just have been one of the greatest, if not the greatest, highlights of my career. Sure, I've achieved a lot in such a short amount of years, but being the lead hair stylist for the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show might be one of my greatest achievements thus far.
Unfortunately, no matter how amazing tonight has been for me and my career, my heart was still plagued by that of the British singer who performed two of his songs during the show - one of which I am almost certain was written about me.
My ring finger practically burns where the four letters are inked into my skin. My eyes burn as well, though for different reasons - also known as alcohol. I've had a love-hate relationship with alcohol throughout my years; tonight it's definitely in that fine line between the two. One part of me is urging my feet to carry me over to the other end of the bar, where a certain, stupidly handsome ex of mine is standing by himself. The other part of me is yelling to stop walking because this will end badly and it won't benefit either of us.
The first part of me wins.
I find myself standing next to Harry at the bar, content. I see now why they call it liquid courage. Although the Sorting Hat quiz placed me in Slytherin, I'm certainly channelling my inner Gryffindor right now - with the aid of alcohol, of course.
"I liked those songs of yours." I begin, leaning against the counter for support needed from standing here and starting up a conversation with him.
Making a guess to myself, I'd say Harry has also consumed lots of liquid courage given the lazy grin he flashes me. The last time I had a run-in with him, he did not respond to my presence with such ease and familiarity.
"Yeah?" he asks and I nod my head in response.
"I haven't heard that other one before. What's it called?" I ask even though I'm pretty sure I can guess based on the chorus.
"It's called Only Angel."
"Any particular muse?"
He fucking smirks at me. "Take a guess who it's about, love, and I'll buy your next round if you guess right."
Kill me now.
"Hmm, I don't know, Haz." I accidentally address him by a nickname and he visibly stiffens as it passes my lips. However, I continue whatever game he's decided to start. "Who is your Only Angel?" I ask smugly.
"Is this an attempt at being coy with me, Granger?" He sees me roll my eyes and puts his hands up defensively. "Just making sure because I have a girlfriend." His smile is still present as he says that.
