an. THIS IS THE SECOND CHAPTER OF THE DOUBLE UPDATE!!

Hayley's point of view

For the longest time, I had it in the back of my head that one day I'd have to tell Harry the truth. I mean, there wasn't really a way to avoid it but I still enjoyed acting like I could. I enjoyed pretending that this day wouldn't inevitably come.

I decided to drive to Harry's house at exactly three thirty-seven in the morning. It was probably a bad idea driving here like this, in the pouring rain and tears to match. It was kind of a miracle I could even see well enough to not total my car and join Heather. I've noticed my dark humour comes out more prominently in times of distress.

After wracking my brain to remember the code to Harry's gate, I've now been sitting in his driveway for at least five whole minutes. I am aware of the fact that it's officially his birthday but he's about to receive the worst present from me. A letter.

After Harry left my house last night, I waited about twenty minutes until I played the 'I'm not feeling too well, I think I had too much to drink. Maybe we should wrap this up?' card and got everyone to leave. I thanked Kendall and Emma for throwing me the party, thanked all my friends for coming, made sure Emma went back to her room for the night before I locked myself in the bathroom. It didn't feel like my birthday until the panic really set it and I sat alone, wishing I could claw my bones out of my skin just to get a moment of relief.

Jacques didn't even realise something was wrong. He knocked on the door and asked if I was okay, I'll give him that, but when I responded with 'I'm fine.' he just walked away. And when I didn't come to bed, he didn't notice that either.

Instead of going to bed earlier, I went downstairs and played Sign Of The Times on my piano. I have the notes memorised because it's one of my favourite songs he's ever composed, I couldn't stop myself. Then after playing it over and over for a good thirteen minutes, I wrote the letter.

This letter to Harry is explaining everything. The whole truth. I didn't intend to give it to him really but after I thought again about the conversation we had at my house some five hours ago, I decided it's the best explanation he'll get out of me in my current state.

The rain is still falling but it's not as hard. I don't want to get out of the car but I know I have to sometime tonight. I look at the time and note that Jacques will be awake in another hour and I won't be there. He leaves for San Diego this morning and I won't see him again until the end of the month when I go to Paris for Fashion Week.

Stop stalling, I tell myself. I need to quit distracting myself and just open the door. Maybe I should call Harry first. Should I? He's obviously sleeping right now so maybe I should.
