Chapter 31-Former Wife

I just don't understand why it is such a huge deal for her!My mother died as she gave birth to me.I never met her and I never got to love her.

My father and my brothers hated me for causing her death.However,then Meg came along.I tried to love her!I tried so hard.Right when I could love someone,my daughter,my father took her.

I did not deserve to be left with no one to love!

Now,I love her!I want her and I so fucking desperately need her!I won't let her take herself from me.

Jefferson,Rudy and Hook barged into the study."Ezra is back.If you have something to say to get her back,now is the time."I stood up and stormed out of the study.

Pisinoe was standing there with Ezra."You two,my study."I went back to the study and soon,they came in too."Where is Adrienne?""She left."

"Left?Did mom go back to the castle?!What did you do now?!"Pisinoe held Ezra back as he tried to come at me.He's little but he is just like his mother.

"I didn't do anything!She left!""Because you keep breaking my mom's heart!It's your fault!All of it!"Pisinoe turned to Ezra."Ezra!You need to calm down!"

Pisinoe turned back to me."He might need to calm down but you have to know that he is absolutely right!We all feel it!Some more than other!Ezra,Megdalope,Azazel and I are done!"

I scoffed."Megdalope?By any chance Ezra could leave now?"She got suspicious."Ezra,just get Jefferson."He rolled his eyes and left."Megdalope?"

"Why do I get the feeling that you know her?""She's my former wife!And she is supposed to be dead!"Pisinoe couldn't believe me.I could see that.

"I-I-I-I-I cannot believe that you are the bastard that didn't love her and that she had to leave."I backed away."What?!I didn't love her but she didn't leave because of that!"

"Oh,really?!Then why would she leave?!""Because my father killed our daughter!And unlike Jade,my father didn't know he was sacrificing her for your kind!So I don't get her back!"

Jefferson walked in."Good.Now that you are here,let's make one thing very clear!I will never have her leave me!I will never let anyone or anything take her away from me!"

I chuckled."And most importantly,I don't give two shits about what happened,I will not let her take herself away from me!She's mine whether she's like to admit or not!"

Jefferson smirked."I knew that.You love her,Calder.Not much you can do there.Might as well keep her.Entire crew knows that she's a keeper."

Pisinoe turned back to me from Jefferson."I don't have a good feeling about her leaving you,Calder.However,I won't have you hurting my goddaughter."

"I don't care what you two are but I would never hurt her on purpose.""I can vouch for him."We turned to Jefferson but it was Hook who said it."What?"

I sat down at my desk chair."I,also,may have told Nox to marry me?"Ezra spoke up."Not almost.You yelled at my mom to marry you.Rude!"

I saw him on Rudy's shoulders,sitting up there."You are lucky you are her son."He nodded."I know."Pisinoe surprised me with what she said next.

"She needs to come back to you,Calder.I'm sorry,Ezra but your mommy is much better off here.And you!You need to promise me you will treat her right!"

"We three can make sure of that,Pisinoe."She nodded."Alright.Then,I will get her to come back.You two will get married if that is what she wants."

I woke up the next morning and I just rolled over to see how Ezra was doing."Good morning mommy."I smiled."Hey,baby.Why didn't you wake me up?"

"I'm alright with you,marrying Calder.He really really loves you.And I shouldn't tell you this but...He asked for a ring from Pisinoe when we came to the ship."

Alright!Hold on a second!What the hell is my son talking about?!

"I think I need to talk to Pisinoe.Why won't you go down to the dining hall and have breakfast?I won't be too long,I promise."He nodded."Alright."

I found Pisinoe talking with Megdalope.She already knows a bit so I just locked the door behind us three."A ring?!Calder wants to marry me because he wants to sleep with me!"

"That is not what he said to me!I know how unbelievable it sounds to you but he does love you!Megdalope agrees with me!Right?"Megdalope nodded.

"Megdalope be honest with me,what is going on?"She sighed."Calder really does love you;from what I heard from you,my Lady,and Pisinoe...All I can say is that you should marry him."

I believed her and what she said but I knew something else was going on."Spit it out.Tell me what you are holding back,Megdalope."Pisinoe stepped up.

"Megdalope is Calder's former wife."I was appalled to say the least to describe this situation I found myself in.Although,a lot of things that both of them told me,they made sense.

Even though I was shocked and caught off guard,I wasn't mad.I was upset that Megdalope didn't tell me sooner.I wasn't mad or upset with Calder because he didn't know.

"How hard it may be,I want you to be the one to bring the ring he asked for,Megdalope.I'm going to go down and have breakfast with Ezra.Both of you are welcome to join us."

We had breakfast but I didn't talk a lot.In fact,I didn't talk at all.I even got Pisinoe and Megdalope to deal with the kingdom today because I didn't feel like myself enough to go out there.

Right when Ezra and I were getting ready for bed,my door got knocked."Who is it?!""Megdalope,my Lady."I sighed."Come in!"

She walked in and then I asked Ezra to stay in the bed."I know how late it is,my Lady,but I just wanted to let you know that I am leaving in an hour."

I nodded."Thanks for coming to me before you left.""Do you want to see it,my Lady?"I shook my head."No.I don't feel the need to do something like that."

"I,also,meant to ask you something,my Lady,if that is alright with you."I nodded."I believe Pisinoe when she doesn't have a good feeling about something."

I cut her off as she finished her first sentence."Take as many guards that you think you need.I believe her too.Not only that but,I have a bad feeling about all of this too."

She bowed before she left and I got back inside the bed with Ezra."Where is Meg going?""I asked her to take the ring Calder asked for.So,she's leaving for that."

"Mommy?Could you sing to me tonight?"I nodded."Of course,I can.Do you have something in mind?"He nodded."Daughter of the Sea?"I took a deep breath as he closed his eyes.

"'Beware,beware the daughter of the sea.Beware,'I heard him cry.His words carried upon the ocean breeze,as he sank beneath the tide."

"Those blood-soaked shores of Kalimador,where sailors faught and died.The admiral fell Theramore,because she left his side."

"Why this?Why this,oh daughter of the sea...Why this?Did you forget your seaside days?Always the pride of our nation's eyes.How could she go stray?"

"When she did flee across the ocean deep,the admiral followed west.What else but sail to safe a daughter's life and pray she still drew breath?"

"But there he found upon those distant shores,enemies 'pon the rise!But when he faced those savage foes,his daughter stood aside."

"And buries deep within the waves,betrayed by family,to his nation with his last breath cried.'Beware the daughter of the sea.'"

"I heard,I heard.Across the moonlit sea,the old voice warning me.'Beware,beware,the daughter of the sea.Beware,beware...Of me!'"

As I sang the last words,I looked down to see him asleep,safe and sound.
