Chapter 19

"I have a bad news and a good news. Which of them would you like to hear first?"

"Gara, may pa-thrill si vp." Ani Andrei habang tutok sa pagmamaneho.

Hindi pa rin pala sila nakakauwi dahil dumaan pa sila sa Watson's para bumili ng pang skincare. Naisipan daw nila na pagtripan ang mukha ng isa't isa.

Kinuha ni Rex ang phone ni Andrei at ni-loud speaker para siya na ang maghawak at makapagfocus si Andrei sa pagmamaneho. "Bad news muna tayo."

Walang tumanggi at wala ring sumang-ayon kaya naman nagpatuloy na sa pagsasalita si Nixx.

"I'm not supposed to tell you guys about this, pero hayaan mo na. So, the bad news is we won't have a prom–"

Sabay-sabay na kumunot ang noo nila at sabay-sabay ring nagsalita. Pulos mga nagrereklamo.

"Kalma tayo, ok? Isa-isa lang, mahina ang kalaban." Awat ni Nixx sa mga ito.

Agad naman silang kumalma at hinintay na may magsalita.

Kapagkuwan ay si Cass na ang nagsalita na napatigil sa pagtitipa sa kanyang laptop dahil sa narinig. "Why though? I mean, why do they have to take away a special part of our highschool life? I heard from a lot of students that it is their most unforgettable night in highschool. At isa pa, wala na nga tayong foundation day tapos ngayon naman pati prom ipagkakait nila sa'tin?"

Nixx sighed. "They didn't told us the reason why."

Bumangon si Ignis sa kama at naupo bago magtanong. "So, what's next?"

"'Yun na nga, the good news is--"

"No. I mean, anong sunod nilang tatanggalin? First, the foundation day and now our prom. Pwede bang 'yung principal na ang sunod na tanggalin?" He jokingly asked.

"Gobyerno muna!" Andrei shouted while his eyes were still on the road.

Everyone laughed, knowing how fucked up their government was.

"So, the good news is there would be an event as exchange for the prom." Ani Nixx nang tumigil sila sa pagtawa.

"It's like a music festival. I can't remember the specific name of the event but it has something to do with music. Kasabay noon ang Valentine's Program natin. May booths, food stalls, at may music contest din. Outsiders can also come if they have tickets."

Nero remembered something. "Oh, the music contest. 'Yun pala 'yung sinasabi ni Ate."

"Kailan pa at paanong mas nauna pang nalaman ni Ate Caeli ang tungkol doon?" Christy asked while she was eating chips.

"She mentioned that before the school year starts. Kahit kailan napakatsismosa."

Rex' brows furrowed. "What do you mean 'before the school year starts'? Planado na talaga na tatanggalin prom natin?"

Nagkibit-balikat lang si Nero. "Could be."

Cass later on asked. "Then who's going to join the contest?"

Nixx shrugged. "I still don't know. Kakaunti pa lang ang binibigay sa'min na impormasyon tungkol dito. I'll give you guys an update."

They bid their goodbyes after that then went back to their businesses.

ISANG pamilyar na sasakyan ang nakita ni Ignis na nakapark sa tabi ng paaralan nila nang oras na ng uwian. Nang bumaba ang salamin nito sa backseat ay hindi nga siya nagkamali ng hula kung kanino ito. It was Michael's.
