"Saan date natin?" He asked after fastening his seat belt.
I started the engine. "Malalaman mo 'pag nandoon na tayo."
He didn't ask about it after that. Maybe he wanted to be surprised too, so I drove off the campus.
"Malapit na nga pala finals. Do you have plans after that?" He asked, eating a bag of Tortillos.
"Talagang nauna pang pag-isipan 'yung bakasyon kesa doon sa mismong finals."
He chuckled. "Para may motivation, 'diba?"
"Yeah, yeah. Baka umuwi lang ako kay Dad. Pero if you have plans, I can join you if you want." I answered, still focused on the road.
"Let's go to Quezon! May bahay 'yung kapatid ni Mama sa tabing dagat, pwede tayo doon mag-stay para bawas gastos na rin. May bangka rin sila para if ever gusto nating mamangka. Kaso lang ayaw ko mag-snorkeling kasi may pating raw doon."
Tuloy-tuloy lang ang kwento niya at nakikinig naman ako habang nagda-drive. Nakakatuwa siyang pakinggan lalo na't ang dami niyang plano.
Maya-maya'y bigla siyang tumigil. "Baby... am I too madaldal na?"
There goes the 'baby' endearment. Gusto nanaman magpalambing.
I took a glace at him and gave him a small smile before bringing my eyes back to the road.
I held his hand and squeezed it a bit. "It's okay. I'm listening."
He suddenly unbuckled his seatbelt and lean towards me and gave me a kiss on my cheek.
"Tapos," Tuloy siya sa kwento na parang wala siyang ginawa. Natawa na lang ako. "may lugar kami dati na pinuntahan. Parang kuweba na nasa tabing dagat. Tapos hindi kalayuan, may sirena doon sa ibabaw ng malaking bato!"
I chuckled. "Ang tanda mo na, naniniwala ka pa rin sa gano'n."
"Statue kasi 'yon, mahal!"
"Oh. Okay, okay." I said in between my chuckles.
Hindi na siya nawalan ng kwento sa buong biyahe namin. I gave him all ears and made him feel that he's heard.
Sa sobrang daldal niya ay hindi niya yata napansin ang daang tinatahak namin. Nakatulog naman siya noong nasa Bae na kami.
I didn't bother his sleep since he looks tired. Maybe because of his classes. I just woke him up when we arrived at our destination.
"Hey..." I was shaking his shoulders, trying to wake him up. "Tubig, nandito na tayo."
Nang hindi pa nagising, I pinched his cheeks and nose, which gladly worked.
Instead of getting annoyed, he immediately smiled. "Ang ganda mo namang bungad sa paggising."
I playfully slapped his face because of his cheesiness. "We're here!"
