"Aish! Dang it!" I cussed and tossed my phone into the basket of my bicycle with force. Yeji still hasn't picked up my calls or even bothered to send a reply since yesterday. Gosh! I shouldn't have wiped my lips! What the freak? I already called her mom and she said that Yeji left for school before breakfast, so I couldn't fetch her up with my bike.

Honk. Honk. I hastily steered the bike to the side before I could crash into the car. Glancing back at the car, my heart pounded in my chest and hair stood on end due to the near death experience. Just when I let out a breath of relief, the bicycle bumped into a tree and the impact sent me flying away onto the hard concrete of the sidewalk. For a moment, my vision blurred and the world spun around me as I lied unmoving on the ground with a searing pain at the side my head, while a hot liquid seemed to be gushing out of the gash. Feeling concussed, I slowly got up and almost fell backward again. Therefore, I shook my head a bit to clear my vision. After I touched the painful side of my head, my hand was smeared with blood, followed by the trickle of crimson liquid down my uniform.

Next, I shakily dragged my feet toward my fallen bike, and I lifted it up. The front of it was dented and one of the wheels was punctured, thus losing air. The instant I checked the basket to search for my phone, I found out that it was nowhere near. I guess it might have skidded away when the crash happened.

With blood still gushing down and vision blurry, I hauled the bicycle alongside me as I walked to school. On the way, I kept myself awake not to pass out from concussion albeit the throbbing inside my head, threatening to let the darkness conquer me. As soon as I reached school, I left the bicycle at the parking rack without bothering to attach the lock to it, and I briskly made my way to the infirmary.

"N-nurse Nayeon..." I slurred, tilting sideways after she came into view, and she gasped, deeply shocked by the state of my injuries. Then, the world went dark and I hit the floor with a plonk.

"Why isn't Ryujin in the class yet?" Yuna asked, catching the attention of the other girls and me. Biting my lips out of concern, I checked my phone and saw many missed calls from her, thus intensifying my trepidation. I tried calling her number, but the digital voice, devoid of emotions, from the other side of the line said that her phone had been turned off.

During every class period until the lunch break, we haven't heard anything from her and the teachers just continued their lessons without even waiting for Ryujin. As hours and minutes ticked by, my anxiety grew and I became jumpy with many possible conclusions clouding my mind.

"It's weird how the teachers didn't even ask about Ryujin's absence," Lia mused, rubbing her chin in a deep thought.

"Yeah, did they know something or were they just nonchalant with it?" Yuna voiced out, glaring at her food as she poked it grudgingly like her enemy, so Chaeryeong had to calm her down by placing a palm above hers.

Somi and I exchanged worried glances.

Not much after the last period ended, I meandered mindlessly through the hallway alone, while the other girls parted ways with me to do their individual tasks.
