꧁ Alisha ꧂
A week has passed since the incident with Yara.
I haven't heard a lot about her since she was back home. She wasn't as talkative as usually. I kind of worry about her, it was nothing like her to be this silent, crawled back person.
Today I didn't have school, so I decided to go to the market in the city. They had some cute clothes sometimes, or old stuff that intrigued me. One time I found an old oil lamp. No one appeared when I rubbed it, but I liked the idea and undiscovered history behind it.
It was a beautiful day. It's one of those days where the sun is finally warming you up after the winter. The world looked alive again.
I got to the market and scrolled through the different stalls. I saw flower shops, and I was having trouble walking past them without buying everything. I ended up buying only one plant: a bellflower.
It was a pretty common flower, but it would be the first time I'd be taking care of it. With the plant in one hand and my bag in the other, I continued walking.
I saw another stall, it wasn't like the rest of them. An old lady was sitting in a chair, wrapped up in 3 different scarves and a thick coat. She seemed asleep. I approached the little stall, that looked as if it survived from another century. The objects on her table were the most diverse I've ever seen together, and they all looked very old. Coins, a map that was on the verge of falling apart, some clothes, a CD player, rings, elegant silk gloves, a baseball bat, and so on. It was amazing, I kept looking, enchanted.
And then my eye fell on an object, covered with a dusty grey cloth. It asked for my attention, and I couldn't take my eyes off of it. Slowly I reached with my hand towards it, to take the cloth off and reveal what was under it.
"Are you sure you want to do that," a crispy voice said. Immediately woken, from my trance, I apologized "Oh, no, no, I'm sorry I didn't- didn't mean to-" The old woman looked at me with a smile. "It's okay, sweetheart, I admit that the attraction power is strong- For certain people." What did she mean by that?
"I have been foretold about this moment, years ago, when the winters were not as cold but the stars lined up for me..." She fell still. What was she talking about?
I collected my courage to ask her if I could see what was under it. My curiosity couldn't take it anymore. But before I could say anything, the women took my hands in hers. They were wrinkled, but still soft and warm. And very small, in comparison to mine. I looked up to her, and her eyes looked friendly, alive, in her old face. "You were the one I was waiting for, my dear. Your soul is the right one, finally you have come... " I stared at her, not knowing what to say. "Are you ready?" she asked me. I don't know why, but I nodded.
She let go of my hands, and handed me the object with the cloth above it. "Dont open it, until you have brought it to its right place, surrounded by life force, okay?" I nodded again. My hands were full now, so I put everything down to take my wallet. She stopped me and said: "there are some things that you cannot buy with money. Thereby, see this one as a gift to you, sweetheart." "Are you sure?" I asked her, not totally uncomfortable, as I had the feeling she just gave me something pretty valuable. "Of course, of course... Just go, now! Before anyone sees..." She look to her left and right, suspicious. I thanked her, said goodbye and went further on my walk. I wouldn't be able to buy anything more, as my hands were full.
I turned around, to look back at the peculiar stall with the old lady, but it was gone.

I was almost home, when I heard a voice behind me. "Oh, look who it is!" Shit. Shit shit shit-
Couldn't they just leave me alone? I hesitated about what I should do. With the bellflower in my right hand and the mysterious object in my left, I couldn't run, it was too heavy. I decided to ignore them, there was a tiny small chance that they would leave me alone. I walked further, faster, but heard running footsteps behind me.
"Hey! Alisha! Didn't you hear us?" I heard Jenna yell behind my back. This couldn't be happening right now, out of all times.
I turned around. I saw Jenna with Max and three other people. "Please, Jenna, leave me alone," I tried to beg as calm as possible. I hoped they didn't hear my voice trembling, or see my shaking legs. They all laughed at my words. The courage sank to my shoes. They weren't not gonna leave me alone. Why would they? This amused them. I tried to take steady breaths, but they only make me more anxious.
They came closer. Out of reflex I stepped back, until I felt that I hit the wall of a house with my back. Full of fear I stared at them, now they surely saw my legs shaking. With all the power that was left in me I tried to keep the object and my bellflower safe, squeezing them against my body.
"What's that in your hands, Alisha?" Jenna asked me. I didn't answer. I held it tighter against my body, if that was possible. I really didn't want them to see what it was. Even I didn't know what was hiding under the cloth, but my guts said that it is valuable... And powerful.
"Leave me alone," I plead again. Again laughter. "Or what?" Max said. "You're gonna beat us up?" The sarcasm was rolling off his tongue, and they all laughed again.
"No." I heard a confident and familiar voice. Everyone turned around at the same time to see who said it.
"But I will."
