Chapter 4: Best Friends

This is a really long chapter!!

It's a bright day today. Really sunny, only a couple white, fluffy clouds, and a slight breeze. The weather was very inviting so Y/n had no problem getting up and heading off to school. That's odd.

Today feels weird...

Y/n thinks to herself. She spots Bakugou walking a great distance in front of her and she starts slowing her pace. She wants to stay away from him as much as possible. She begins browsing on Instagram, but then she feels someone poke her shoulder two times. She stops in her tracks and peers behind her. To her surprise, it was Midoriya! She smiles brightly and waves.

"Hey Midoriya!"

Izuku's POV

I wake up about 5 minutes before my alarm goes off and stare out of my window at the scenery. The blue sky and bright sun pierced through my curtains, warming my face. I slightly smile due to the cheerful atmosphere created by the weather.

Today's the day! I'll be free.

I wait for my alarm to go off and then get up, doing my routine. I hug my mother goodbye and tell her I love her. She smiles and returns the three words. Hopefully that makes her feel better about last night...

I walk down the sidewalk with my head up and a little pep in my step this time. I put my playlist on shuffle and go over my plans in my head one more time.

I think I should have the letters by me and not in my bag so they can give the letters to my mom and Kacchan. Plus, it doesn't seem too windy today, but just in case, I'll use my bag to hold down the papers.

I grit my teeth a little, thinking about my mother's reaction. I know it will hurt for a little, but it's for the best. Everyone will get over it eventually and even Kacchan will forget about me soon after I pass.

I gulp and look up to see a familiar girl walking slowly. I recognize her as the girl from my 1st and 4th period classes.

Should I talk to her? If this is my last day, I might as well thank her for what she did Tuesday. I still never did that.

I speed up until I'm right behind her. I already get sweaty, but push through it as I shakily raise my hand. I use my index finger to gently poke her left shoulder two times. I stop and stand there with my hands gripping my bag straps. She stops as well and turns around to look at me. In a flash, she gives me a big, dazzling smile and waves at me saying,

"Hey Midoriya!"

SHE KNOWS MY NAME?! Stay cool. Just tell her thank you and then keep walking. It's not that hard!

I go to say something and open my mouth, but nothing comes out. I panic a little and close my mouth, swallowing hard before trying to speak again. Her smile never falters.

"Y-you know my name?" I stutter, scratching my left cheek with a finger.

She chuckles a bit and smiles even brighter, causing my heart rate to speed up without permission.

"Of course I do. My name is f/n (full name) by the way." she beams.

I smile back at her and swallow the lump in my throat.

"Well, um, I just wanted to thank you." I say, eyes bouncing from her, to the sidewalk, to the road.

She tilts her head to the right and gives a questioning look.

"What for?"

"For, uh, standing up to Kacchan last week. T-that was very, um, brave of you, and I got to get away from him that morning. So thank you." I say, ready to keep walking.
