Chapter 11: Serenity

It's the second week of Izuku being out of the hospital. The medication hasn't been negatively affecting him and he is enjoying therapy so far. It's wednesday now, the pair wake up, not wanting to go to school. The night before, Izuku wasn't doing well, he had a mental breakdown, so this morning he was exhausted.

*flashback*

"Are you sure I'm not stressing you out by being your friend?" Izuku hiccups over the phone, pressing the bottom of his palm against eyes.

"Yes I'm sure. I'm not a liar, so if it were too much for me, I would say that." Y/n states.

*end of flashback*

Y/n knocks on Izuku's door as usual, clutching the edges of her skirt. He finally opens the door, dark circles under his eyes.

Geez how much sleep did he get?

Y/n thought to herself as she forced a smile saying good morning.

They began walking to school, both teens deep in thought. Midoriya's green eyes glued to the concrete beneath his red shoes. Five silent minutes went by and Y/n finally spoke up.

"Hey Izu. Hear me out.."

He looks up at her warily and slowly shakes his head, causing the h/c haired girl to giggle.

"Why are you already shaking your head?" she playfully bumps her shoulder against his.

He chuckles back, eyes returning down to the concrete.

"I feel like you're about to say something dumb." he finally says.

Y/n scoffs in fake offense, but then puts a smile back onto her features.

"Well! I was just gonna suggest that we...skip school today?" her voice squeaking at the end of the word 'today'.

The boy stops in his tracks and looks at his best friend with a tired expression.

"You're joking right? Our mom's would kill us, you know the school calls if we even miss first period!" he begins to get nervous once he realizes that his friend isn't joking.

"Come onnnnn. I feel like we need this! We're good students, but we need a mental health day, don't ya think?" she jives.

The greenette's eyebrows curl upward as he looks around anxiously, seeing his school in the near distance. He begins to tap his red shoe on the ground, bringing his fingers to his lips as he thinks about the pros and cons of skipping.

"Plus we can quickly catch up on our missed school work tomorrow! We're both smart. Please Izu.." she throws on some puppy eyes and sticks out her bottom lip.

He lets out a sigh and looks at her with soft forest eyes.

"Fine. Just this one time right?" he asks.

Y/n's e/c eyes glimmer in the sunlight as she nods her head excitedly. They begin to walk back the way they came from.

"Sooooo, what should we do?" she asked in an enthusiastic voice, swinging her arms back and forth.

"I, um, know a place we can go.." Izu states, leading her down a path between two trees.

They walk deeper into the forest, Y/n gaining fear as they leave civilization farther and farther behind.
