Nezetta's PoV
My family name wasn't anything important to me. It was a simple reminder of where I came from, a reminder that my mother was once alive. She existed, and through the Silva family name, her legacy lived on as the Steel Warrior Princess.
Other than that, it wasn't anything to be proud of. I didn't understand the reasoning behind people praising and glorifying us because we have royal blood. In the end, we were merely people too.
The only notable difference was how we were more blessed with mana because of our heritage.
That was until I realized what I was truly meant to contribute to this world full of hypocrisy and injustice.
"Is that all you've got, demon?!"
I turned my head to the side, finding a laughing Mereleona still ignited in her own flames as she talked down on the demon knocked down the ground. It was still burning with her flames, and still encased in my barrier. I haven't gotten close to 50% of my power yet, so I doubt that the ancient demon would be knocked down that easily. It was a legend for a reason. It'll surely put up more of a fight later on.
It doesn't change the fact that Mereleona will pulverize it still, though.
What I'm more worried about was the Resistance. They were able to bring most of the citizens to safety by this time with the help of my Guardian, but we are yet to see the Dark Triad's tricks.
"Mere," I sighed, "the fight's not over yet. There's no need for you to taunt it. It'll get up on its own soon."
"Hm?" She turns to me with a small smirk.
"I doubt that my barrier will be able to keep it trapped for long, so do be prepared for that. When against demons, we can't ignore the fact that they indeed are higher beings than humans, much stronger than us."
"Isn't that the reason why you worked your ass off to go head-to-head with them?" Mereleona's smirk only grew wider as we landed on the cliff safely. "We're bringing them hell, and it's nothing like what their home feels like."
There really is nothing to waver this woman. Her strength and mental state is insane. If you can't break her physically, nor can you break her spirit. Maybe that is one of the pros of only aiming to improve steadily. Nothing can truly stop her if she has her mind set on her own goals.
"What phenomenal mages."
"They defeated an ancient demon, just the two of them!"
"Ralph!"
I twirled my scythe between my left hand's fingers until it disappeared from my grasp, eyes focused on the Spade castle. The rest of the most powerful mages of Clover Kingdom are currently there, all except for Asta. Nacht must have something else planned out for him to stay back at the Clover Kingdom.
He must have predicted that Spade would try to attack our country at the same moment too. His time spent being a spy in Spade really paid off.
There are many mages left to defend the kingdom. I trust my squad the most. Knowing the Golden Dawn, they will be the first to unleash their magic to protect the people.
Though, I do hope they're alright.
We lost enough people when Zenon attacked our home base. I can't have that happening again.
Thinking about it unknowingly made my fists clench until they began to hurt, and only then was I able to escape my own thoughts.
"Lady Nezetta!"
I looked over my shoulder at the call for my name, finding the Division Commander of Spade along with the remaining mages of Eye of the Midnight Sun and the Buha guy.
