~Flashback~

"You spent your two-day preparation just to temporarily break the curse?"

Nacht's eyebrows scrunched together. The Silva sitting across him definitely looks like a risk-taker, but he didn't know that she would exceed his expectations of risk.

She wasn't joking when she said that she's preparing to lay her own life to protect their country, and she's proven it time and time again.

This battle was no different. She came here with the intent to win, and nothing could stop her or force her to retreat.

"Yes, and I broke it just before we transported here in Spade. Breaking it means my body having to adjust to a higher amount of mana contained within me." Nezetta looked over Asta talking to Liebe and Nacht's demons. "I'm a little clumsy with containing mana right now, which is why I unintentionally made my mana zone stronger than intended. I still have a bunch saved up to fight against Vanica, but after that..."

"You will need time to recover once you're drained." Nacht nodded, following through her thought. He can vaguely understand how the unsealing of the curse worked in her favor, but one thing was bothering him. "What was the price?"

"Hmm?"

Nezetta turned to him with an arched brow.

"What was the price for it?" Nacht repeated. "Temporarily breaking the curse can't be attained so simply without a condition, Nezetta. I know that very well."

A light smirk appeared on the Silva's lips. She was hoping for him to leave that part out and let her sort it by herself, but it seems like Nacht is sharper than she deemed him to be.

"My memories," she answered, "I have a magic spell called memory fragment."

"What does it do?"

"Thing is, it has many uses." Nezetta leaned forward. "I can use it to project other people's memories, project my memories. Recently, it saved me when I was possessed and I managed to keep a fragment of my mind in control."

Nezetta rolled her lips inward. She had long decided that she will accept the consequences Alexandrite told her about when he first introduced to her the idea of breaking her curse temporarily. There is no turning back now that she activated it willingly.

It won't be long until bits of her memories erase itself.

Hell, it already began.

"Apparently, it's not all positive uses." She chuckled. "It can erase my own memories. When I asked Alexandrite if it can do it to others, he said that it's not possible. It's a spell against the user. Do you get where I'm going?"

He didn't want to believe her explanation, but with such a term as breaking a curse, memories were a small price to pay by the bearer. Nezetta was lucky that it wasn't her life asked in exchange.

"When the curse comes back..."

"You'll completely lose your memories." Nacht finished. "How far back, Nezetta?"

"Three years."

~Flashback Ends~

"Nezetta-neechan!"

"Nezetta!"

The Silva prodigy dropped from the sky, crashing down the ground harshly just after passing out midair. Immediately, the two injured Silva forced themselves to run after her unconscious body.
