"Why'd they talk about me as if I'm a hostage?"
Nezetta whines as she walked alongside the three towards the orphanage. The elder magic knights behind them were closely following, observing the recovering village. There were still many houses left under construction, some were not even touched since the elf attack. It will take awhile for them to fully bring back all that was lost during that time.
Well, things that can still be fixed, that is.
Unfortunately, none of them have the capacity to bring a loved one back to life.
It made them realize that if the Common Realm was already suffering with these damages, how worse off could the Forsaken Realm be?
Ever since Nezetta opening up and mingling with the other knights of the Golden Dawn, they have seen their kingdom in an entirely different perspective. They noticed how peasants and commoners were being treated when they set foot in the Royal Capital. There were little children who cried for their lost parents as they had no one to stay with them anymore because of the brutality of their world. Their pain and suffering, how a seething anger blossomed within their hearts.
They began to notice it one-by-one.
All was made possible because Yuno shamelessly joined the strongest squad in the Clover Kingdom, the Golden Dawn that was known to only have royals and nobles as knights. His appearance changed many things within their family, and they have all seen it turn for the better.
They were all stronger now, together or not.
"You seem to be really close with the villagers, Nezetta-san." Mimosa giggles beside the lavender-haired girl.
"Nezetta Onee-chan!"
A little boy around five-years old came running towards her with three pieces of meat skewers on his hands. He jumps as Nezetta knelt down with a giant grin to catch him in her arms.
"Ah, Nico! You're so big now!"
"Hehe~ I made these for you, Onee-chan! I remember you saying you love meat skewers with mushrooms, so I added more this time!"
"You're so sweet! Be my child." Nezetta joked with the kid. She continued walking with the others, having the little boy feed her with a meat skewer as they walked. "Oh, you were saying something, Mimosa?"
Nezetta chuckled, turning her head to face the latter. "I have been around the village numerous times, and the kids were all welcoming." She said. "Last time is saw this big guy, he was three."
"I'm not a little guy anymore, Onee-chan!"
"You are to me. Now, feed me, little man!"
Nico giggles at the girl's playfulness and held out the skewer in front of her again. Unbeknownst to the others, Yuno was softly smiling to himself at the sight of the royal comfortably conversing with people of lower status.
She had told him several times before that she cares nothing for status, and that its only advantage to her is because she can use her voice to influence others, but actually seeing her enjoying her time with her people was the best thing he could ever see. He found her kindness endearing.
Nezetta Silva's bravery and protectiveness for their kingdom doesn't only appear in an open battlefield where lives are on the line. Her efforts to ensure that the citizens were living in harmony only showed how capable she is of leading not to please pockets, but to change the discrimination and other evils lurking around the shadows.
