"I can't believe you never told me this!"
Nezetta looks at the document she held right in front of her face, still gaping at the newly found information of one of her comrades. William, who remained seated behind his desk, chuckled softly at her reaction and shook his head. If anyone knows Nezetta's feelings best, it would be none other than William Vangeance himself.
Ever since a certain wind magic user joined the squad, he knew that things were about to change. But, he didn't expect Yuno to be the reason why Nezetta actually comes back after her missions.
Sure, she's still overworking and such, but she at least makes sure that she comes back home after accomplishing her tasks.
Not like before where she would just check-in a random inn and sleep her fatigue away.
Seeing her unusual reactions now—well—it comes off as an amusing sight for him.
"I wasn't made aware that you needed such information, Zetta." He smiled suggestively. "Do you perhaps...."
"Perhaps what?" Nezetta lowers the document to her side, arching an eyebrow at her Captain.
"Like him?"
Visible chills creeped up her body as her eyes widened along with her teeth gritting together in nervousness. She was quick to deny his assumption and shook her hands furiously in front of her.
"No way! I just...thought that this is an important date to remember."
"You don't even remember my birthday."
"Hey, I do! I even gave you a present last year."
"So, what makes Yuno special now?"
Her shoulders slumped in defeat, eyes turning away from the teasing captain. She was aware that she was beginning to harbor serious feelings for the raven-haired mage, but voicing it out to the world is something she does not want to happen at all.
However, this is William she's talking to.
He already knows before he even asks.
"He's...a great comrade." She answered hesitantly, looking for a better word to describe it. "I just think that he deserves to feel appreciated, especially on his birthday."
"Hmm, I heard that he doesn't celebrate it much. It is quite hard to have an extravagant birthday when you've lived in the Forsaken Realm all your life." William thought back to when he was the one living with the peasants. He was just a teen back then, but he understood how hard it must be for the peasants to continuously strive for food and water there.
It was heartbreaking to see such a sight, much more to experience it all your life.
"Give him a day-off on October 4th," Nezetta lifted the document once again and browsed through his member profile. "As for me—well—relieve me from my duties for a day."
"Isn't that a surprise?" William chuckles.
The only time Nezetta asks for a break is when she's out to help the poorer villages, and that itself was already at least twice in a full year. Even then, she's still working her ass off for the betterment of this country.
