Spring's almost over and you still haven't confessed your love to your upperclassman, Ryuichi-senpai. You went to the same school with your older brother, Yukihiro and that's how you know your senpais. Since Valentine's Day you've bought chocolate and written a letter to Ryuichi but you never have the guts to give them.
"It's almost summer, (y/n). You said it yourself that you're going to confess before spring ends." Your brother reminded you. "I know, Yuki nii-san. But..." you're still unsure. Yukihiro sighed and both of you went to school. You two parted ways to your respective classes and you sat after putting down your bag. "Morning, (y/n)!". "Morning, Akko!" you greeted your best friend, Akiko.
You've been friends with Akiko since the first day and both of you know that you two have a crush on Ryuichi. "Did you do it yet?" Akiko asked. "No..." you sighed and immediately perked up, "I thought you were going to do it!". "I thought the same so I asked." She explained. "How about this..." you tilted your head.
"How about we put our letters and chocolates in Ryuichi-senpai's locker then we wait on who he'll choose." Akiko suggested. You felt that it was wrong to make it as a competition but you're running out of time. "Okay. Let's do it." you accepted the challenge. Akiko nodded and went back to her class. At lunchtime, you and Akiko went to Ryuichi's locker and slipped in your letters and chocolate before having lunch.
School went as usual and before you know it, the school ended. You did the cleaning with your classmates while your brother went to the music room with his bandmates and friends, Ryuichi and Haruomi. Haruomi was the leader and founder of the band after his previous, Blue Valentine or Happy End as others called disbanded only after a semester. The new band is called The Yellow Magic Band or just Yellow Magic but your brother said the name is still a work in progress.
"Are you finished cleaning, (y/n)?" Yukihiro asked. You nodded, "Are you going to practice again?". "I have a bunch of ideas to try." He smiled. You giggled, knowing that Yuki's drumming sessions sometimes make you feel like it will burst a hole through the wall or smash the door open back home. "You can go home now if you want. I'll be back before six.". "Okay, Yuki nii-san. Have fun!" you gave your brother a hug and went to your locker to change shoes.
You peeked at Ryuichi's locker and your gifts are gone as well as Akiko's. You suspected that he already took them. "Hey!" Akiko tapped your shoulder but you didn't flinch. "Oh, hey Akko." You greeted. "Our gifts are gone! Senpai must've taken them." She took the words out from your head. "We'll just have to wait and see." You were nervous from your words.
Few days later you found out that you lost to Akiko. She apologized and you wished the best for them. Even though you managed to force a smile, you didn't speak a word for the entire day even to Yukihiro. "Can I have a word with you, Yuki?" asked Haruomi after Ryuichi and Akiko left. "What is it, Hosono-san?". "Did something happen to your sister?" he asked and Yukihiro explained that you made a bet with Akiko on who was going to get Ryuichi and you lost the bet.
"Are you going to tell her?" Haru nodded. "I think you should cheer her up first. I'm really worried.". "I'll see what I can do. Do you know where she is?" Yuki told Haru that you're in the library. While you were going crazy over Ryuichi, Haruomi had been watching you and he told your brother that he likes you. Haru also knew about your crush and that's why he never said anything to you.
Just like Yuki said, Haru found you in the library, reading a book. He walked to you and greeted, "Hey, (y/n)-chan." But you didn't greet him back. "I... uh... heard what happened and I—" he was cut off when he saw you started crying. He sat down next to you and wrapped his hand around you, giving you a small hug. You hugged back tightly which surprised him a bit and you continued crying. "I lost, Haru-senpai. I lost! I don't want to blame Akko but I don't know what to do." You finally talked.
"It's okay to be sad." Said Haru with a smile while gently patting your head. "You still have your brother and... you still have me." You didn't say anything while you slowly calm down. "How about you, senpai? How was your spring?" you randomly asked. "No luck." He gently chuckled. "If it's not too late... I have something to tell you, (y/n)-chan." You looked at him and slightly tilted your head.
Haru held up your chin and kissed your forehead. "S-senpai." You couldn't believe what just happened. "I like you, (y/n)-chan. I'm maybe not as much as expected like Ryuichi but I still have something in common like him." He confessed. You slowly smiled and said, "I like you too, Haru-senpai. But... just a little bit." You were a bit embarrassed to admit the last part. "That's good enough for me." Haru smiled in relieve.
"Told ya, sis! But you just wouldn't listen..."
