"What was that?" Ryuichi woke up from his tense and short sleep. He managed to get back to his room last night and apparently so did Haruomi. The two went to the kitchen and Haru greeted, "Good moning, Sakamoto. Had a rough night again?". "No, I'm fine. Just had a... disturbing nightmare." Answered Ryuichi, pretending that he's fine.
Both of them made breakfast for themselves and Ryuichi noticed a nasty wound on Haruomi's shoulder as if he had been stabbed. "What happened to your shoulder, Hosono-san?" he asked. There was a brief silence between the two and Haru finally answered, "I got impaled by a branch. You surely could've heard my scream last night.". "Right... I think I did." Ryuichi nodded and asked if Haru is okay from the injury.
"Oh, I'm fine. I found some... things to help stop the bleeding." Haru innocently smiled but Ryuichi didn't believe it. He took a closer look on the wound and it was the exact size that the branch he stabbed to the creature last night. 'Don't tell me that Hosono-san is...' Ryuichi shot a glance then shook his head. "Are you alright?" asked Haru and Ryuichi said that he's fine. "Just still a bit sleepy." He added.
They finished making breakfast and ate separately. Ryuichi was uncomfortable with Haruomi and he was suspicious that Haru is the creature he and Yuki encountered. And he also knows the scream he heard was not Haru's but Yuki's. Both of them finished eating and Ryuichi continued his research after shower. "Have you seen Yukihiro?" asked Haru. It sent chills to Ryuichi but he managed to stay calm and answered that Yuki went out for the day.
The day continued and the two were getting worried with Yukihiro's absence. "It's almost lunch. Are you sure that Yukihiro went out by himself?" asked Haru in a concerned tone. Ryuichi still didn't want to believe but he had to play along. "I'm... not sure. I'm worried too." He answered then Haru asked again if there was anything the two of them wanted to discuss.
Ryuichi sighed, "I've been digging about the place and I've found something disturbing." And answered. Haru was seemingly interested and asked his bandmate what he found. Ryuichi explained that there is a legend of a creature that eats humans. "A creature of greed with an insatiable taste of hunger. I also found that it can imitate the voice of its victims to lure its next." He added after describing how the creature looks like. Haru felt very cautious with Ryuichi after hearing that.
"Are you sure you're fine with that, Hosono-san?" asked Ryuichi while trying to inspect Haru's wound. "Don't!" Haru growled but quickly corrected himself. "I-I mean, it hurts when you touch it. Please don't.". Ryuichi is 100% convinced that Haru is the monster. "I apologize too. How about we look for Yukihiro tonight and kill the monster?" he suggested, changing the topic. Haru was unsure but he played along too.
The two cautiously spent the afternoon around each other and as night came, they head out to the forest as planned. "You're not bringing something?" asked Ryuichi. "I'll be fine. I've done this many times before." Haru tried to casually answer and the two went in the forest. They agree to split up and went on their separate paths.
Ryuichi traced back his steps to where he heard Yuki's scream and had fully loaded his gun along with extra bullets. The path was exactly as he remembered but slowly it broke from his memory and it wasn't long for him to realize that he's lost. He didn't want to risk it but it seems it was the only option. "Yukihiro? Yukihiro! Where are you?" he called out while hoping something replied.
"Hello?" a faint voice was heard. "Yukihiro?". "Sakamoto-kun? Are you there?" it was Yuki's voice. "Yes, I'm here!" Ryuichi answered. "Where are you?". "I-I... I don't know! Can you help me? It's scary here." Ryuichi took a step back and remembered the legend. He stood and shouted, "Are you sure you're okay? Did the monster get you?" the silence of the forest filled the air for a moment then the voice answered, "I... I think so. I can't see it but it can hear us! Please get me out of here!"
"Okay, just stay right there! Don't go too far!" Ryuichi replied back. "Find something to hit the tree with so I can find you!". "I-I'll try!" Ryuichi then tried to find the source of the voice and he heard something hitting the trees as he asked. "Hosono-san! Are you there?" he shouted. "Y-yeah!" Haru answered and his voice was between his and Yuki's. "I'm right here!" he finally adjusted his voice. "Gotcha." Ryuichi smirked.
His theory was right and kept provoking by calling and Yuki and Haru. "H-hey! Can you help instead of messing around?" Haru was getting irritated but still keeping his composure. "Did you find Yukihiro?" Ryuichi asked. "Y-yeah! He's right here with me!" said Haru and asked if Ryuichi can come to meet them and help carry Yuki. "How about we go to the spot where we split?" Ryuichi suggested.
"Alright! I'll meet you there!" Haru agreed after a short silence and the two started walking back to the spot. Both of them only have one chance for each other. Get rid the other and get out. "Sakamoto-kun? We're here!" said Haru with Yuki's voice as the creature. "Sakamoto-kun?" he looked around but no one was there. A gunshot was heard and it hit his back. "Come out here, you coward!" his voice then morphed to a demonic voice.
Another shot was fired and he managed to dodge it. "I knew it! It was you all along! You killed Yukihiro!" Ryuichi came out to face the creature with his gun pointed at it. "Well done, Sakamoto. I'm impressed you figured it out." It complimented with Haru's voice then changed to Yuki's. "Too bad that you'll join Yukihiro soon.". "No. It'll be you but you won't be seeing Yukihiro." Ryuichi threatened back. It sighed, "So be it."
It darted towards Ryuichi and he dodged it then fired another shot. 'Three bullets left.' He has to conserve his bullets and he only has one magazine left. "Haru" kept lunging and slashing which made Ryuichi hard to evade due to its speed. "Why are you like this?" asked the now injured Ryuichi from the scratches. "Don't you remember that line? I hear the madmen call." It sneered then attacked Ryuichi again and he fired his last three shots.
"Damn it!" the gun clicked and he quickly reloads. "Out of bullets already?" it mocked and charged at Ryuichi again but it didn't know that Ryuichi prepared a knife with him. He stabbed the creature and finally reloads the gun. "Very clever." It pant from the surprise attack and shots were fired again. The bullets were flying and half of them hit "Haru" and even his injury from last night.
"That's it." it cut off Ryuichi's hand which also knocking the gun off it and he screamed in pain. "Haruomi" grabbed Ryuichi by the throat and picked him up, "You were right. I killed Yukihiro. It was unfortunate sadly..." Ryuichi tried to freed himself but it gripped tighter, choking him. "Wh-what a-are you going to do... w-with me?" asked Ryuichi and he gasped, as if all of his breath escaped. "You know too much. I can't let that." The creature had stabbed Ryuichi through his chest. He died in a matter of seconds.
"Haru" made Ryuichi his dinner and went back to the cabin when he finished. The sky changed its color and so as Haru, reverting back to his human form. He packed his stuff along with Ryuichi and Yukihiro's and went back. The two were still deemed missing.
A.N : Here's the second part! Man I'm so excited that these two chapters finally uploaded! It's been a wild ride writing it and I enjoyed every word I wrote.
