Nicole POV
I woke up the next morning with a headache. I grunted as I got out of bed and headed for some painkillers and water, retrieving them from the kitchen. She fed CJ and herself before going in the shower. About half an hour later she was heading out to the homestead to see Waverly. The homestead was quiet and she found Wynonna passed out on the couch. And Waverly still asleep in bed. I lay down next to Waverly and saw a letter on that side table I opened it.

I am so glad my baby found someone like you to love, much better than that shit head Champ. She's going to need you when I leave, which I am sure you will hate me for it which is understandable.

I couldn't believe it, she just left. I wrapped my arms around Waverly as she slept hoping to bring her some comfort. A little while later she stirred in my arms. "Hey." I said gently.
"She's gone." Waverly said tightening a grip on me.
"I know baby." I said into her hair.
A week later
It was my first day as Sheriff, I put on my uniform in the morning. Waverly and I drove down to the station together, we were met by Nedley at the door who handed over the Sheriffs office key. He walked in with us as all the deputies were there. I faced my deputies with a smile. "Give it up for Sheriff Nedley." I said and they all clapped as they he walked back to the entrance.
"It's been a pleasure everyone, be good with Sheriff Haught." He said and he tipped his hat at me. I smiled as he walked out of sight. I headed into my office and saw Sheriff Haught sign on the desk. I went to put my stuff away and log in.
