Adrienne's Point Of View:

I didn't bother knocking on the door; I opened it and closed it behind me. Jacob was bent over the bonnet of a car; I wonder what he's fixing now. He didn't hear me enter because the music was too loud, I tip-toed over to the radio and turned it down a little. Jacob sneaked a glance at me before bowing his head over the bonnet again, I heard a sniffling sound. I arched my eyebrow and heaved myself up on the table. I didn't quite know how to start the conversation; I bit my lip and thought a bit more. I was never really good when it came to serious talk that’s why I spent most of my time avoiding it but I guess somebody in the sky wanted me to get it over and done with.

'Hey...my Grandmother told me everything' I said, breaking the silence. 'I even ended up walking out...' I mentally slapped myself, what a way to start a conversation.

Jacob grunted in response and turned up the radio before returning to his work, he wasn’t making this easy; He was making it look like that I was the one who got him like that. I hopped off the desk and picked up a greasy car piece, it looked like something you’d find in a scrap yard but that’s what Jacob was good at, he could easily make into something useful. Jacob stood up and studied the bonnet of the car before bending down to pull something out. ‘Looking for this…?’ I suggested, stretching my arms out to show him the greasy pipe in my hand.

‘Yeah…’ Jacob muttered, taking it from me and getting back to the car again. I sighed and pushed my hands into my pockets.

‘Talk to me, Jacob’ I pleaded, the silence was killing me and I was starting to wonder why I came in the first place. Jacob sighed inwardly after tightening a loose screw and fitting in the battery, his eyes casted down to me, lighting up-just a little. ‘You heard what your Grandmother said; she wants you to mourn your mother’s death’ Jacob stated, wiping his hands in his already greased up shirt.

My eyes narrowed, it all made sense now. In order for me to mourn my mother’s death, all distractions had to be removed from my life-Including Jacob-My Grandmother was always good at getting her own way, one way or another. ‘Who cares what she says?’ I growled, getting slightly peeved off that Jacob was deciding to keep his distance.

‘I do-she’s your family Adie, and I have to respect that’ Jacob said, looking me in the eye. ‘You should too’

Jacob looked out the window, it was drizzling outside; he went back over to the car and closed the bonnet before switching off the light and leaving the shed, I followed him. ‘Jacob!’ I called after him, I tried to keep up with him as the mud started to get more slippery-Stupid Converses-The rain started to get heavier and more violent-as did my temper. ‘Jacob!’ I yelled over the loud pitter-patter of the raindrops. ‘Stop, please!’ Jacob didn’t turn around instead he opened my truck door for me and helped me up into the truck.

‘Go home, Adrienne’ Jacob ordered, closing the door. I could see a hint of regret in his face, and I wanted to take advantage of that. I leaned forward and kissed him, it wasn’t a surprise that he’d kiss back so fast. All of a sudden the door opened and I was pulled up. I was up against the truck and my legs were around his waist, I could hear my pulse pumping at a fast rate-I was surprised Jacob couldn’t.
