"How was your night, buck?" Steve asked the brunette boy as they stood at his locker. "You went out with.. Dolores, right?"

Bucky sighed. "Yeah." He said, his tone giving Steve a questioning look.

"Why do you sound bummed?" Steve asked, "did it go bad?"

Bucky shook his head. "No, it went great actually." He said, still sounding bummed. "But Bailey is pissed at me."

Steve sighed, shaking his head. "Come on man, what happened now?" He asked. "Is this still about yesterday?"

"Worse." Bucky said, "she said I don't understand what she deals with. And then she said that she'll be alone in the future and that me and you won't be. But the worst part is, she guessed I had a date and I never even mentioned it to her."

Steve laughed a little bit, raising his eyebrow at Bucky. "She's definitely got a crush on you, Bucky." He said, "you've just got to talk to her and manage to not piss her off. Can you do that?"

Bucky groaned. "Of course I can." He said, watching as baileys short figure walked right past them. "Just not here, it'll bring too much attention."

After the school day, Bailey made sure to get out of there quick. Her stomach ached in pain from the previous night, which slowed her down on the way home.

Bailey knew that if she wasn't quick enough, either Bucky will catch up to try and talk to her, or someone would follow her. But, luckily for her, Bucky did a pretty good kid scaring them away yesterday.

Walking into her home, Bailey shut and locked the door behind her. She wouldn't be going anywhere tonight, there's no where for her to really go.

"Bailey." She heard Bucky's voice as knocking sounded from the front door. "I really need to talk to you Bailey."

Bailey ignored the knocking the best she could, but couldn't take the sound of it. "Bucky just leave me alone!"
She said, her voice breaking a little bit.

"No Bailey, that's the last thing I'm going to do." He said, "now open the door before I do it myself!"

The blonde was hesitant at first, but then made her way to the door. Holding her arm around her stomach, she used the other one to open the door. "What." She asked in a dry tone.

Bucky's eyes shifted from baileys face, to her arm around her stomach. He wasn't sure if he should question it yet or not. "Bailey." He breathed out, just glad to see she was actually talking to him. "I'm sorry."

"Yeah. You said this last night." She reminded him. "Now why are you here?"

"Bailey come on.." he said, coming into the apartment more and shutting the door behind him. "I'm not letting our friendship rot because I broke a promise. Yes I know that breaking the promise put you in danger, but I am truly sorry."

Bailey scoffed. "Yeah, you were so sorry that you went out on a date right after, right?" She said, crossing her arms and turning away.

"Why does it matter that I went on a date?!" He asked, their argument beginning to get heated. "I'm not allowed to be happy?!"

"That's not at all what I meant and you know it!"

"Then what do you mean?!" He asked, "because I don't get it! Why is it such a big deal that I went in a da-"

Bucky stopped. Not because of how loud the argument was getting, but because of baileys facial expression. Her cheeks were the familiar rosy red, along with her eyes dilated and teary.

He watched as Bailey began to breathe heavily, pacing around the room and then proceeding to slide down a wall to the ground.

Quickly filling a glass with water, Bucky knelt in front of where Bailey sat. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have yelled." He apologized, watching Bailey drink from the water. "I'll just-"

Bailey shook her head, stopping him from speaking. "No." She said, "don't go. I cant be alone.. not like this."

Bucky nodded, moving so he sat beside her. "I just want to know why it mattered.." he said, relaxing as baileys head placed itself against his arm, being that he was much taller.

"You don't see it, do you?" She asked.

"See what?"

Bailey took a breath, looking up at Bucky. "I'm jealous." She said, "your out being happy, living your life like there's nothing holding you back." She continued, looking forward now. "And then there's me, who can't leave the goddam house without worrying about being attacked."

Bucky frowned as his gaze moved to her, using his thumb to wipe the tears off her cheeks. "Come." He said, "let's go for a walk, yeah?"

Bailey groaned as Bucky stood up from beside her, continuing to pull her up with him. "If I get attacked, it's on you." She said with a small laugh, wiping her tearing eyes.

"I promise you that won't happen."
