Getting around the facility was more complicated than the commandos expected. The dozens of different hallways and the bunches or guards were insane, and this wasn't even the hardest one they would have to get through.
Bailey snuck around, staying as quiet as a mouse. Although she did leave a trail of bodies behind her, she was doing pretty well.
"Anyone have eyes on him yet?" Bucky asked through the communicator.
Bailey took hers out and held it in one hand while the other held her now bloody staff. "I'm clear here. You guys?"
"No sign of him." Steve said, the sound of bullets bouncing off of his shield echoing in the background. "Keep looking."
The girl continued her way around, ducking behind a stack of boxes as she heard people coming towards the room she was in.
"They're here, we need to get out of here." She heard a man saying, a slight accent to his voice.
Peeking over on of the boxes, she could see the red skinned man and his shirt companion.
Carefully taking out her communicator, she pressed the button to speak to the others. "He's here." She whispered, "I'm going in."
"Wait don't-"
The man stopped as he heard the voice echo from the device, looking around him to find where it came from. "I smell filthy American." He scoffed.
"Sir I don't smell anything." The little man said, "but I do see something."
Bailey knew that were speaking about her, so she took her chance and jumped out of hiding. "It's over, Schmidt." She said, pointing her staff at the man.
"Your right, it is over." He said, pulling something from his pocket quickly. "For you."
All at once, bailey felt three sharp pains coming from her stomach, side, and leg. She yelled in pain at a deafening volume, but that wasn't stopping her from doing what she had to get done.
The girl limped up and shot tasers at the men, surprised when it only effected the shorted man. "Th-that's-"
"Impossible?" Schmidt asked, "I was graced with the super soldier serum before Captain America was. I was the most successful experiment."
Bailey scoffed, shooting another taser at him just for the heck of it. "You don't look too successful." She said, glaring at him.
Schmidt just laughed, beginning to walk away with the other man. "And I'm just five minutes, you won't look too alive my dear." He said, pointing to the blood dripping to the ground.
"I guess we'll just meet again in hell." Bailey scoffed, shooting her pistol at him but just missing as he left the room.
She didn't know what to do. Her energy was at an all time low, and she just failed. So, she sat down against the wall and took out her communicator again. "G-guys he got away." She said, sounding extremely weak.
"Bullseye where are you?" Dumdum asked, "this place is going to blow in less than five minutes, we gotta go."
Bailey whimpered a little bit, thinking she was about to die. "J-just go." She said, "I've already lost a lot of blood."
"Bailey what do you mean?!" Bucky asked in a panicked tone, "I'll come find you. Just tell me where you are!"
"I'm already on my way to find her. The rest of you get to the truck and be ready." Steve said, sounding out of breath as he ran. "Buck, get the kit ready in the truck."
As the girl waited for Steve to find her, she felt her body becoming weaker and in more pain. "I told you guys n-not to come back." She finally said, hearing footsteps approaching.
"Well your not the captain." Steve said, running into the room and scooping bailey up. "Now we have less than two minutes to get out of here. Luckily your body trail leads the way."
Bailey just nodded, hearing explosions from behind them. "Steve I thought you said two minutes.."
"Look, it's ok. I have the shield, we will be alright." Steve reassured her, "just keep your eyes open.. I think. I don't know how the medical thing works."
"That's why I'm the doctor." Bailey said softly, giggling a little bit. "But I'm tired."
The explosions grew to be closer and closer as Steve ran, the red white and blue shield being held above their heads.
"We are at the front gate!" Dumdum said, "just hop in the back!"
Debris dirtied the two as the explosions were right behind them, both just making it out before the facility fell to dust.
By the time they got to the truck, Bailey was passed out. Bucky had to force himself to push aside his fear and take care of her wounds. He knew that it would've been worse if she was awake, so he took her pass out as an advantage to remove the bullets.
"Look away." He said to the other few guys who sat in the back before he pulled her cargo pants down.
The men listened and looked away, waiting for Bucky's approval to turn around again. It only took about a minute to get the bullet out of her leg, pulling her pants back up after wrapping it. "Ok you can look now." He said, holding bailey in his lap.
Once he knew that bailey was tended to, Steve cleaned up his few wounds. "She's going to be alright buck." He said, recognizing the worried expression Bucky's face showed as he held bailey.
"She better be." He whispered, holding her head to his chest. "But we can't bring her to the next facility, she's not in good condition."
Steve nodded and sat beside Bucky. "I don't know buck, she has the serum. Her body is going to heal faster than it usually would." Steve said, "but if not, she will just have to stay here for lookout."
