The following day, Bailey did in fact walk to school with Bucky. The brunette haired boy promised to keep her safe, and he wasn't planning on breaking that promise.

Bucky knew how bad Bailey gets when she's under a lot of pressure or simply approached in an unfriendly matter. He could always see the look in her eyes when she was about to have another anxiety attack.

Just the way her cheeks would redden and her eyes would dilate gave it away. Especially at their age, the teens would always have some sort of drama to deal with.

"Ok bailey, listen to me." Bucky said as they approached school grounds. "If they ask for their homework's back, stick up to them and show them who's boss."

Bailey grew stiff, shaking her head no. "Buck, I can't even correct a waitress at the diner that my order was wrong. How the hell am I supposed to confront a bunch of kids?!" She said, running her hands through her curly blonde hair.

"I'll be right there with you Bail." He assured her, "now let's go inside.. we are going to be late to class."

Bailey nodded, following behind Bucky towards the building. "Good morning, Steve." She said to the short dirty blonde boy who stood at his locker.

"Good morning." He said, taking out his notebook and pencil. "You alright?" He asked Bailey, noticing her anxious look.

Bailey reassured him that she was ok, nodding her head. "I'm alright. I've just got to deal with the kids who's homework I was supposed to do." She said, "I'll see you guys after school.. I've got to get to class."

"But Bailey-" Bucky said, watching the girls curly hair bounce as she strutted away to class. "I'm worried about her, Steve." He admitted.

Steve nodded. "Aren't we all?" He said, "why is she acting like nothing happened yesterday? I mean, you said she literally got chased home."

Bucky nodded as well. "I just don't understand girls." He said, shaking his head with a small laugh. "But they sure are great."

"Miss Connors, homework please." The teacher said as she paced around the room collecting everyone's homework from them.

Bailey nodded and handed the teacher her homework sheet, watching as she moved to the student behind her for his work.

Unluckily for her, the student seated behind her was no other than Anthony Martino, one of the couple of students she was supposed to do's homework.

"Mr Martino, homework?" The teacher said to him.

Anthony laughed. "Yes, Mrs, Bailey here has it for me. I forgot it at her house yesterday." He said, "right, Bailey?"

The blonde took a deep breath. Just stick up to them, Bucky's words replayed in her head.

"No, I don't recall you being at my house?" Bailey said, watching a furious facial expression form onto Anthony's face. "I only have my homework done."

The teacher nodded, marking down a zero for Anthony and continuing down in the aisle.

Bailey felt her hair getting yanked back, turning her head to see Anthony's furious face once again. "You'll pay for that one, Connors." He scoffed at her.

She looked around, seeing angry eyes coming at her from each person she was supposed to do's homework. Show them who's boss, Bucky's words repeated in her head again.

But now, she already did enough damage. Showing them who's boss will only make it worse, she's already in line for a beating from one of her classmates.

"How do you think it went with Bailey? I haven't seen her all day." Bucky asked Steve as the school day ended, the two of them walking out of the school building. "Because I haven't heard anything good, Martino is pissed."

Steve shrugged. "Buck, this girls got you wrapped around her finger like it's nothing. Do you hear yourself?" He said with a laugh. "I mean, come on. Do you hear yourself?"

"What are you talking about? Bailey is my best friend. Nothing more, nothing less." Bucky confirmed. "And I don't like when my friends get picked on.. especially if it's her. Only we can pick on her."

Both Steve and Bucky laughed a little bit, continuing their way to baileys house to check in. They couldn't find her anywhere in the school so she had to've left.

The only issue was, where was she?

"You can hide forever, connors!" Anthony said, looking around for Bailey with his friends. All of them knew her route she took to get home, which was very stalker like.

But Bailey hid in an alley way, ducked down beside a garbage bin. The stench was terrible, but she would rather smell that than deal with Anthony.

"Miss what are you doing?" The little man from the pizzeria asked Bailey as he came out the back to throw away the garbage.

Bailey groaned, shaking her head. "I'm fine." She said, the little man nodding and wandering back into the pizzeria.

She could hear Anthony and his friends laugh, all of them running into the alley way and crowding around her. Baileys body was forced against the brick wall, surrounded by the three taller boys.

"You know, Connors, we had a deal." Anthony said. "You told me that you'd have my homework done and I would leave you alone. So where the hell is it?!" He yelled in her face slamming her into the wall.

Bailey shakily took a breath. "I-i ripped it up." She said, "your failure isn't my problem."

Within a quick second, Bailey was slapped across the face, then punched in the stomach. "You broke your part of the deal-" Anthony began, punching her stomach again. "-I break my part too."

"Hey!" Bucky called out from the end of the alley, him and Steve standing there. "Leave her alone, would ya?!"

Both of Anthony's friends feared Bucky, taking the small time frame to make a run for it, leaving Anthony.

Bucky marched towards Anthony, pinning him against the wall. "She's not your homework slave, Martino." He said, glaring right into Anthony's dark eyes. "So grow the hell up and pick on someone your own size."

The brunette dropped Anthony and scoffed as he ran off, then turned his steel blue eyes to Bailey. The poor girl was hunched over, leaning against the wall.

"Bailey-"

"You promised." She choked out. "You promised you'd be there to help me and you weren't."

Bucky frowned, his gaze softening as he approached her. "Bailey I tried. We were looking for you right after class." He said, "come on, let's get you home."

"No." She said, "I can deal with myself, buck."

The two boys knew Bailey was heated from the moment. Her head was spinning and her stomach felt absolutely crushed. Anthony had a strong punch to him.

Steve sighed, "but Bailey we can help you." He said, "please."

Bailey shook her head no, continuing her way home. "I just want to be alone." She said, ignoring their calls as she walked away.

I'll be right there with you, I promise. Bucky's voice said in her head.

Lie.
