I watched Laina as she played with the wires on the old car, finding what ones were good and what ones were bad. As I watched her, I noticed Roadie eyeing me, but I didn't blame him.
"She's different." I said and he grunted.
"Heroes change-"
"No, Roadhog, this is something else! She lost something there!" I said and stood, watching Laina as she beat the car when she couldn't get the wires free.
"Laina?" She looked at me then smiled, but I noticed a lack of something in her eyes, something she had before she left with the hero man.
"What's up, Jamie?" She grinned and I sighed, forcing a smile.
"Ya alright?" I asked and she nodded, showing me the bundle of wires she had gotten.
"Was just frustrated with these wires, that's all." She said and I nodded, watching as she went to her shack and shut the curtain behind her. She never shut her curtain. I sighed and turned, going to Roadie, but he caught me before I grabbed the radio super soldier left with us, in case we needed him.
"Leave her be-"
"They hurt her, Roadie-"
"And we need to give her time, Rat." He said and I looked at the shack then nodded, leaving the radio be. For now.

"Wrench?" I glared at the girl then she stepped back, but slowly came in and slid the old clock towards me.
"Could-could you fix that?" She carefully asked, but I snarled and threw the clock out the curtained door.
"Why do I have to fix everything for you people?! What is it about this stuff that you can't just do it by your damn selves?! Dear god, just leave me the hell alone!" I yelled, shoving her out the door, then I grabbed my 24" wrench and stormed out after her, seeing all the junkers in the central area staring.
"Leave me the fuck alone and learn to fix your shit all your own! It is not my fault that none of you are competent or able to do this shit! It is not my fault that I am the only one here who can fix your junk! For fuck's sake, you're junkers! Learn to do this before I lose my temper-"
"LAINA!" I stopped and glared at Roadhog as he came over, taking my wrench and grabbing my shoulder.
"Enough-"
"Don't treat me like a kid anymore, Mako! I'm not some kid, not anymore, you can't just act like my father and think I'll listen! I'm sick and tired of that shit! Just give me my wrench and leave me alone!" I snarled and took the wrench, going back to the shack and leaving silence behind me as I shut the curtain to my home.

"Roadhog to Soldier 76." I tried again, waiting for the response from the soldier.
"Commander Morrison, what is it?" He finally answered and I huffed.
"What happened to Laina when she went with you?" I asked and set the radio down, listening for his response.
"A lot happened, Roadhog, including her losing the guy she cared for. He forced her to hide and lie, she got angry and left him, then she left us." He explained and I looked out the open door to Laina's shack, which was closed up and everyone was avoiding it. After her outburst the other day, I'm not surprised in the least bit.
"Roadhog?" I looked at the radio then held the button down.
"She's different, Commander. She was... frightening before, but now she's worse. You broke her, you need to fix her." I said and let go of the button, adjusting the dials to better hear his voice.
"We didn't break her, she broke herself." He said and I huffed as I held my head, trying not to get angry with the man.
"Well, one of you heroes did something to her that broke her inside, it broke something none of us could ever touch, and you need to fix it! Before she gets worse than she is!" I snarled and turned the radio off, sighing as I set it on the shelf again.
"They going to fix it?" I turned to Jamie then stood and grabbed his elbow.
"I don't know." I said and he nodded, looking towards Laina's shack.
"She's going to lose control if she keeps up like this." He said and I nodded, hugging him tightly and trying to think of a way we could help her.

"I've gotten word from Roadhog and Junkrat, Laina is losing control of her beast." Commander explained, but I felt my heart dropping and Angela grabbed my arm.
"I'm alright, Angela." I said and she looked worried, but Jack sighed.
"Genji, I think it best that, should we go, you join us-"
"I could make things worse." I said and he nodded.
"Or, you could make things better. Her friends noted that she's different, angrier, and she's losing control of the Night Beast. They've seen it more and more over the last two weeks, she's even been changing mid day. If this continues-"
"She could be consumed by the beast." Winston said and Commander nodded.
"We need to step in, because Roadhog was right. We did hurt her, this is on us, all of us." He added as he saw a few looks going towards me, but he sighed.
"Genji, I want you to go with us, see if you can talk her-"
"Jack, I am the very reason she left!" I argued and he stopped, as if he was just realizing that.
"You're not the reason." I looked at Brigitte then she sighed.
"She-she told me the truth, when she was leaving. She probably doesn't even realize she told me the truth." She said and shook her head.
"She's been losing control for weeks now, it started when the beast forced it's way out. She left because she didn't want to hurt us the way she killed those scientists, she wanted to keep us safe. If she loses it out there, in Junkertown, then no one gets hurt because she's got all that open space to just run and hide. Here, on the island? There's only us and this building." She said and I looked at Commander, who nodded.
"Then, tomorrow, we'll put a small team together and we'll go to save our teammate." He said and we nodded, all in agreement that this wasn't our fault, but we sure as hell were going to save our friend.
