I stared at the photo of Jamie, Mako, and I in the Outback, running my thumb over the photo.

"Wrench?" I looked at Mei then saw everyone giving her looks that said 'shut up', but she was giving me a sad smile.

"Are you okay-"

"We're on a mission, Mei, focus on that and not personal relationships." I said and she slowly nodded, the air tense as we came in for the landing.

"Alright, you know your assignments. Genji, you and Hanzo take the sky, see if you can count our enemy. Reinhardt, Hana, and Brigitte, wait here for infiltration."

"And me?" I asked before he could get to Mei and Tracer, but he sighed.

"Wait for the signal, Laina." He said and I nodded, crossing my arms as I looked at the ground. As everyone went to leave, Genji came towards me, but I put my headphones on and he nodded, walking out with his brother. When he was gone, I took my headphones off then eyed Jack as he sat next to me.

"You gotta talk to him-"

"You're my commander, Jack, not my dad-"

"And as your commander, I'm instructing you to work on your personal relationship with him. You two were a good team, one of the best, now get back to where you were-"

"I can't." I whispered, looking up as I heard a loud explosion.

"Go!" Jack yelled and I changed, running into the base and seeing the two Shimadas pinned behind some pillars.

"NIGHT BEAST!" Hanzo yelled as he saw me, but I ran for the Talon soldiers and jumped on them, ripping them to shreds.

"Hello, cat." I heard then stared as I saw Reaper.

Genji's POV
"Hello, cat." I heard and, a second too late, realized who it was.

"LAINA!" I screamed and jumped out from my hiding spot as a shot rang through the building. I stared as Laina laid on the ground, a hand to her bloody human side, her pink hair loose around her head now.

"REAPER!" Commander snarled and Reaper turned towards Commander as more Talon foot soldiers ran in.

"Laina!" I ran to her then dropped, holding my hand to her side and feeling the sickening slick of her blood.

"GENJI!" Brigitte yelled as she and Reinhardt formed a shield, guarding us.

"Laina, you're okay!" I whispered, holding her side as Hana jumped out of her mech to help me.

"Go help my brother and Jack!" I ordered and, being her senior, she nodded and left to help Commander and Hanzo.

"Gen-Genji." Laina whispered as I looked at her and brushed her hair back.

"I-I think you-you know." She breathed, but I shook my head.

"I'm not losing you, Laina! I swore to protect you-"

"And I told you-you not to tou-touch me." She said, but I shook my head.

"Where the hell is Mei and Lena?!" I growled, but Reinhardt answered.

"Ship, as instructed to stay!" He said and I nodded.

"Hold on, Laina, I'm going to get you out." I said and she nodded, wrapping her arm around my neck as I lifted her.

"HANA, COVER US!" Brigitte yelled and Hana came over, guarding us as I carried Laina out.

"Genji, I-"

"Shh, Laina!" I told her then we got outside and ran for the ship.

"COMMANDER!" Hana yelled and I turned, seeing Jack running our way.

"TRACER, GO!" He yelled and Lena started the ship, taking off right as Commander got on. I laid Laina on the ground then Brigitte kneeled next to her, holding a rag to her side.

"It's bad! He used his close-range shotgun! She's got pellets spread throughout her side!" She said and I looked at Commander.

"She's going to die if we don't get her to Angela in the next thirty minutes-"

"We're two hours away!" Mei whined, but I looked at Laina and took a deep breath.

"Hanzo, give me your knife!" I snarled and everyone looked at me as I pulled my helmet off.

"Genji-"

"Hanzo, now!" I spit and he handed me his knife.

"Hana, some small tweezers!" She reached into her emergency tool kit then handed me long tipped tweezers.

"You can't work on her-"

"She'll die if I don't, Jack!" I yelled and Hanzo kneeled next to her shoulders.

"Are you sure, brother?" He asked and I nodded.

"We've done this before, Hanzo-"

"Not with shotgun pellets, with regular-"

"She will die!" I snarled and set the tools down, grabbing her shirt and ripping it open.

"Genji-"

"I can do this, Jack!" I spit then grabbed a fresh rag, wiping away the blood and grabbing the tweezers as she bled more. I took a deep breath then reached in, trying to find all the pellet pieces.

"You're going to be okay." I told her as she laid in the infirmary bed, Angela running tests to make sure I got all the pellets out.

"The tests came back." I looked at Angela and nodded, seeing Laina eyeing me from the corner of my eye.

"You saved her life, Genji. You got all the pellets out." She said and I nodded, looking at Laina.

"Laina-" I stopped as she pulled her hand away when I went to grab it, obviously still pissed at me.

"Angela?" I whispered and she left, leaving us to talk.

"Laina, please, I nearly lost you-"

"I was never yours to lose to begin with." She said and I felt my heart breaking.

"I'm sorry, I-I won't make you lie or hide or-"

"Get out." She said and looked at me, pure anger in her eyes.

"Get out, and never come back to see me." She said and I forced myself to nod. I stood then turned, leaving the infirmary.

"Genji?" McCree called as I silently passed, tears rolling down my cheeks.

"Genji, you alright?" McCree called after me, but I saw Reinhardt and saw him eyeing me.

"I-I lost her." I whispered and he gave me a sad look, reaching for me, except everything went black and I heard yells as I hit the ground.
