I got off the ship then stared as I saw fires raging and consuming fires, blood everywhere, heard screams sounding from seemingly everywhere, and noticed that this place was on the ass end of an attack.
"Roadhog!" I looked at Commander as he went towards the large man who was kneeling over the half-clawed remains of some guy. As he stood, he adjusted his gas mask that he always wore and hefted a hook onto his shoulder.
"What happened?!" Commander Morrison asked, but Junkrat came over and answered his question.
"She lost it, gone crazy! We don't know-"
"Laina's gone, Soldier." Roadhog cut off the smaller Junker and eyed me.
"What did you do to her, Genji?!" He snarled, making me step back, but Junkrat grabbed Roadhog's arm.
"Roadie, she forgave him! You should too!" He said and I eyed the smaller man.
"She what?" I asked, but he sighed.
"Soldier, Laina is in the Outback, you probably won't find her easily-"
"You underestimate us, Rat." Commander said and sighed as he looked around.
"She did all this?" He asked and I felt Hanzo grab my wrist. I looked at him and saw that phantom darkness in his eyes, the same one he had whenever he remembered before.
"Hanzo." I whispered, grabbing his arm, then McCree came over and grabbed my brother, holding him gently as I had seen him do many times before.
"McCree, take him to the ship!" I whispered and the cowboy nodded, taking my brother back to the ship as I looked at the Junkertown duo.
"She was fine this morning, as fine as she's been since she came back." Roadhog started then sighed, shaking his head.
"We don't know what happened, just heard the roars and the screams. By the time Rat and I got out here, well, half the people had been mauled or struck down." He said and I looked around.
"She's lost." Winston said and I nodded.
"Did she have on a necklace?" I asked and everyone looked at me.
"An emerald heart on a gold chain? Was she wearing it?" I asked and Rat nodded.
"She was."
"Then I can track her." I said and turned, going to the ship.
"Genji, wait!" I heard Reinhardt yell, but I went to my bag and opened it, searching for my data pad.
"What do you mean you can track her?!" Jack asked, but I huffed as I sat in a chair, opening the program.
"When she was doing my skin, I asked her to put a tracker inside it in case I ever got lost or hurt-"
"Because of what happened in London?" Reinhardt asked and I nodded.
"She asked that, in return, I give her something we could track. We had started dating when I found the necklace, so I gifted it to her with a tracker inside the gem casing." I said and cursed as the low signal out here slowed the program's tracking.
"Got her!" I said and stood, going outside and trying to figure out which way.
"Where is she?" Roadhog asked and I looked up.
"She's that way-"
"That's not good!" Rat said and I looked at him.
"Her father had multiple facilities, one in Oklahoma and one here, in that direction." Roadhog said and I cursed.
"How far?" Jack asked and Roadhog huffed.
"About thirty miles. She left minutes before you got here, we could still-"
"GENJI!" I took off running, using all I had to chase after Laina, but I didn't care if the others followed me or stayed behind. I let her go once, I wasn't about to lose her again.
Roadhog's POV
"HURRY, ROADIE!" Rat yelled over the wind as he sat in the sidecar, but I ignored him as the heroes' ship flew above us, following us as we followed that idiot."FASTER!" Rat giggled, making me roll my eyes, but I slid to a stop as I saw Genji staring down a blue-eyed tiger, a green glint on her chest just at the base of her neck.
"He found her."
Genji's POV
I watched as Laina eyed me, not an ounce of recognition in her blue eyes, but I saw my necklace on her neck."You took that off, Laina, remember?" I tried to reach her, but I tensed as I heard the growl of a motorcycle and a ship, the others finally arriving.
"Genji-"
"Stay back!" I ordered Hanzo, stepping closer to Laina. I stopped as she "roared", warning me to stay back, but I took a deep breath.
"It's me, Laina. I know the beast took over your head, I know this isn't you, because I do know you. I know you talk to yourself when you're tinkering, I know you sleep on your stomach because then the beast can't come out, I know you hate the dark because it reminds you of that lab, I know more than you realize." I said and stepped closer, stopping as she growled and her tail flicked.
"Laina, please, it's me. It's Genji, your green dragon." I whispered, praying to whatever god watched over this place that she would recognize me.
"Please, my blue eyed tiger, come back." I whispered and stepped closer to her, putting my hands up where she could see them. I took a deep breath as I stepped closer to her, but I noticed the anger in her eyes slowly dissipating, slowly turning to recognition.
"I know you see me, Laina, I know you recognize me, please show me that you're in there. If you don't, they'll have to put you down." I said as soldiers from the nearby facility finally got over here, yelling orders that I ignored in favor of trying to get through to her.
"Night Beast, in the flesh." I heard and looked up, seeing a man there with gray hair and striking blue eyes, scars all over his face.
"You." I heard from behind me, but it didn't take a genius to know who this guy was.
"Laina, you're not his experiment!" I yelled, making her eyes turn back to me.
"You're not the Night Beast or the Night Tiger or whatever monster the world made you out to be! You're Wrench, the eccentric, outgoing, funny, smart, amazing, stubborn, crazy prankster of Overwatch! You're the one who dragged Commander Morrison back to Gibraltar, you're the one who knocked my brother on his ass, you're the one who forced me to open my heart again and I didn't even know you were making me fall for you until it was too late! Don't let that creature control you, don't let that man control you!" I called out to her, hoping she'd see through the fog in her eyes. Please, please let this work.
