Chapter 16: Day 7 (part 2): Change Up:

As I awoke on Day 7, I found that no one had left. The six of us had slept in the same room together that night, after the chaos of yesterday, we’d called a truce until morning to regain our strength and get some rest.
It was Thor who had suggested it, which was a surprise. I hadn’t expected a god who liked a fight as much as Ares, to back down like that. But I guess he had years of experience over any of us, and knew if he wanted a good fight, he needed the opposition to be well and rested.

I rolled over on the hard, cold ground and grabbed my guns that I had placed next to me during the night. I made sure the safety switches were on before I got up and noticed that Johnny and Thor were already gone. Steve was still propped up against the wall next to me, sleeping with an angelic look on his face.
I heard someone else wake and get up. The first thing I saw was dishevelled brown hair before a face that almost always looked hung over.

I smiled at Tony Stark before staggering over to him; sleep still had a grip on my brain. I’d barely slept at all in the past week, and having last night to get a full nine hours, while it had been good, it has also been bad. I wasn’t used to it anymore. It would take me longer than usual to shake off the effects.

“Morning.” Tony smiled, “Love the bed hair, by the way.”
I rolled my eyes, “Really, Stark? You’re going to comment on my bed hair during the Marvel Games?”
“You’re lucky that’s all I’m commenting on.” He winked and I shoved him aside, sliding the gun over my shoulder and picking up a small hang gun next to Tony’s foot, checking the safety was one, and shoving it down the back of my pants for safe keeping.
“So, why are you even talking to me –and where is Bruce?” I asked, looking around the room with him nowhere in sight.
“Well, I figured I’d talk to you since you’re my last hope for an alliance.” Tony put it bluntly, “And Bruce ditched, he must have bolted before either of us woke up.”
“So much for the Hulk having our backs.” I sighed and started walking down a corridor.
“Where are you going?” Tony called softly, careful not to wake Steve, who was the last hero sleeping.
“Well, if we’re allied now, may as well get as far away from here as possible. We have no supplies, Bruce took my backpack.” I told him, “But I think I know where we can find some.”

Tony and I stealthily made our way back to where the Marvel Games had begun. The Cornucopia.
The two of us spent a fair amount of time watching it, making sure no one was using it as their hide out –there was always a chance someone had been crazy enough to return before us. All tributes stayed as far away from the Cornucopia in case of tributes waiting in ambush. And considering that I hadn’t seen Bruce, Thor or Johnny anywhere, I was on edge.

“Do you think it’s safe?” I asked Tony, fear shaking my whispering voice.
“As safe it’s ever going to be.” He shrugged and made his move, sprinting silently into the depths of the Cornucopia, just behind the sun rays so the light-glare hid him from view. I followed him quickly.

Mostly, the supplies in the Cornucopia had been taken, save a few packs that had bottles full of water and two packets of freeze-dried food. It was enough to last us a few days, but we’d have to ration the water. Only having four six-hundred-mil bottles between two people would only last us two days. We’d have to find a place with water tomorrow, just in case.

“You find anything?” He asked.
“Four bottles of water and freeze-dried food.” I told him, holding up the small backpacks. “You?”
He dropped a small case on the ground and opened it up. “Spare parts.”

The parts were red and gold, one was in the shape of a hand and the other looked like a boot.

“Are they some of the missing pieces of your suit?” I asked.
“Yep. Only have to find three more parts and I’m complete.” He said triumphantly, carefully taking the hand out and attaching it to the suit, doing the same with the boot. Now, Tony was only missing part of the shoulder armour, and the parts of armour that covered his knees.

I looked half-heartedly around the Cornucopia. The inside of it was drenched in blood, and I couldn’t help but dry-reach whenever I accidently placed my hand on some dry blood. I wondered who had died here. The only people I could think of that could had were Jack and Luke.

“I think we should go.” I told Tony. “It doesn’t look like the rest of your suit is here.”
“Agreed. This place is giving me the creeps.” Tony, even though we were in the most depressing situation on Earth, managed to strut out of the Cornucopia with his signature smirk on his face, probably showing off for the hidden cameras.

Like a lost lamb, I followed him, but I was stopped when I heard a clank of metal beneath my boot. I knelt down and picked up the odd looking knife.
It looked familiar; I had had one just like it before I’d thrown it and lost it. It was exactly like the knife Jack had thrown at me and I’d kept.

And I knew that Jack had died here.

Author's Note: Hey guys! Sorry its been so long since I updated this, I know most of you were hoping for an update this weekend, but I was out on Saturday and I spent all of Sunday watching season 2 of Gossip Girl, hermit style xD

So! What do you think? Bruce ditched the Tony/Stella/Bruce alliance, so what happens now? Who is in an alliance with who? What's going to happen next? What's the next challenge going to be?!

And the question I'm even asking myself: What the hell is happening with Clint?! Is he okay!?

I can tell you, we have a Clint appearance in chapter 20 and chapter 22 :) will the mentions be good or bad?

I'm genuinely curious of what you guys think of this story since we're literally at the half way point and I only have ten chapters left to write! I also wanna know that if you could ask Estelle Arrowsmith any question, what would you ask her? I'm considering doing a bonus content thing like I do for the Metallic Charms books but I'm not sure yet.

Chapter 17 will be up soon!
Until then, comment, vote, like!
