Chapter 23: Day 13: Regrets:
I woke with heavy eyelids glued shut with my hands clinging onto the note Clint had sent to me with the sponsorship gift.
It was day 13 of the Marvel Games and it very, very slowly dawned on me that I was in the final three. Last remaining civilian tribute, longest ever lasting civilian tribute in history, highest scoring civilian tribute too, I couldn’t only ask myself when the record breaking would stop.
It was the second last day of the Games, surely, my journey would end here. Surely, Bruce had some sort of a plan to attack Tony and then take me out. Or even the other way around.
Tony. His name hit me like a bucket of ice water as the note I’d read a hundred-thousand times played over in my head.
‘stay with Tony, he'll help you out at the end’ Clint had said. I just didn’t understand why he would want me to stay with Tony. Why not Bruce? Bruce seemed like the more friendly person in comparison to Tony Stark, and also the strongest –he would be able to keep me safe in basically any situation.
But there was only one problem: I didn’t trust Bruce, and I didn’t trust Tony.
I trusted Clint Barton –who was on the outside right now, probably watching the coverage of me running away from the fight and bumping into Bruce Banner, ready to kill him, but instead, making a feeble alliance with the strongest hero in the Games.
I could practically hear the people yelling in fits of frustration at their screens, telling me to get the hell out of the alliance, go hide and wait for Tony and Bruce to battle it out so I could emerge the winner –but I didn’t want to do that.
Contrary to popular belief, I wasn’t a coward. Not anymore.
“What would mum do?” I asked myself silently, no sound coming from my mouth, only my lips formed the words.
What would my mother do in this situation? She was always so good at problem solving. And she’d always told me to trust my gut and do the right thing –but I was in the Marvel Games now, there was no ‘right thing.’ Only wrong and slightly more wrong.
I let my eyes flutter open as I took in the light and I noticed that Bruce had fallen asleep on the other side of the room.
He was probably dreaming up a plan to kill Tony right now... And I would have to help.
I ran a dirty, blood stained hand through my mattered hair and sighed shakily.
I didn’t want to hurt Tony, I realised, I didn’t want to cause a friend pain.
I regretted leaving Tony during that fight, and I knew that now. I knew I had to somehow, sneak away from Bruce and find Tony again. And that’s what I did.
I snuck out of the tiny room Bruce and I had found to sleep in and ran for it.
I spent the entire day trying to find Tony, and I eventually did – lying in the same place I’d left him.
“Arrowsmith.” He greeted. “Come to finish me off?”
“Opposite actually.” I panted and handed him the note, whispering, “Hawk’s been sending messages.”
Tony’s eyes scanned over the note carefully, nodding at certain points.
“Looks like our alliance is back on.” Tony declared as he ripped up the note so no one else would be able to read it.

Author's Note: Hey! Whats up guys? Apologies for lack of updates lately (again) but if you've seen my message, that its going to hopefully change for the next few weeks because I've put Metallic Lights on hold and I'm going to keep writing this until it's finished (which is only 4 chapters away guys!)
Which brings me to my first question: Any questions for Estelle? Only 4 more chapters to go to ask them so start sending!!
Next one, how did you like this chapter? I know they've been a bit short lately but I like to think they have more purpose when they're shorter because they get to the point quicker. But I can promise you that the next few chapters will be pretty long because there is ACTION PACKED DRAMA AT EVERY CORNER. Seriously, I think I'm going to have cramped up body just from writing it, it's going to be that stressful lol.
As always, next chapter should be up by Friday, :)
Until then, comment, vote, like!
