"you're so pretty!" the stylist said as she fixed chanhee's hair, the boy just nodding and smiling at her words. "if i had a son like you, i'd definitely make him a model!"

as the stylist continued fixing his hair and attire, chanhee's mind went blank, his perfected smile dropping the second he stopped actively thinking about how he needed to be smiling always.

he truly enjoyed modelling and every chance he was given was something straight out of a dream but there were days when he wished he could just stay at home. instead of being in front of the camera, a part of him just wanted to sit on his bed and stare at nothing.

"we'll start shooting in ten!" the director yelled, chanhee nodding slightly in acknowledgement.

since he had time, he walked back to the shared dressing room and, as he normally did, he sat in front of the vanity, staring at his own reflection.

all people seemed to see was beauty with them singing praises about his appearance but a part of chanhee couldn't help but wonder what would happen if he were no longer "pretty" - would the people who claim to love him abandon him at the drop of a hat if he suddenly stopped being pretty?

leaning in, he saw the dark circles that the makeup artist couldn't quite hide. he saw how his eyebrows were slightly uneven and how the corners of his lips turned downwards constantly.

he saw all the imperfections that a seemingly pretty face had.

sighing, he leaned back in his chair and closed his eyes, silently reminding himself to breathe.

breathe in. breathe out. breathe in-

his phone vibrated and he mentally cursed himself for forgetting to put it on silent. but, just as he was about to shut it down, he saw that the notifications were from that twitch streamer who constantly, in his odd ways, tried to attract chanhee's attention.

after quickly checking if he had enough time left, he opened the chat, silently reading what kim sunwoo had to say.
