"i feel like most of our dates are always at convenience stores," chanhee said, watching as sunwoo ate instant ramen in front of him.
"does it bother you?" sunwoo asked, wiping the corner of his mouth as he stared at chanhee. "i'm sorry-"
chanhee flicked him on the forehead, frowning at him before offering him a comforting smile. "the place doesn't really matter that much. i'm fine with anything as long as it's with you."
sunwoo made gagging noises at his statement, recieiving a glare from chanhee which sunwoo responded to with a smile.
if someone had told him months ago that he would be sat right in front of the ulzzang he once hated, he would've laughed in their faces. yet now, he couldn't imagine a world without choi chanhee by his side.
and although he knew that they had a long journey ahead of them, he could tell that there was no one else he'd rather figure out life with than the black haired boy looking outside of the window with the moonlight perfectly capturing his features.
"hey chanhee-" chanhee hummed in response. "close your eyes for a bit and don't open them until i tell you too," sunwoo said, chanhee facing him again with furrowed brows.
"if you pull a prank on me kim sunwoo-" sunwoo shook his head, reassuring chanhee that it was nothing of that sort so with a sigh, chanhee did as told, closing his eyes.
slowly, sunwoo pulled out a simple metal band from his pocket and gently, he held chanhee's hand, sliding the ring onto his ring finger. "you can open your eyes now," sunwoo said, his ears turning a bright red when chanhee immediately stared at the new accessory placed on him. "it's not a very elaborate gift and i'm going to be honest and tell you that i got it from a cheap accessory store before my shift started and i actually have one too but if you don't want it i'm fine-"
"are you proposing to me kim sunwoo?" chanhee asked, his eyes still glued onto the simple silver ring on his finger, a faint smile playing on his face.
"well, no but yes but- it's a promise ring of sorts and...i don't know! wear it if you want to i guess," sunwoo replied, averting all eye contact with chanhee as his ears slowly burned out of sheer embarrassment.
when he first envisioned the moment that he gave the ring to chanhee, he never once factored in the embarrassment he would feel afterwards, his doubt instinctively kicking in before he could catch himself. sure, they were dating but why would chanhee ever wear an unbranded piece of silver painted metal when he could afford so much better than that? moreover, why would chanhee wear something that signified some form of commitment when sunwoo knew he could do so much better than some twitch gamer?
but when he heard a faint laugh from chanhee followed by said boy taking his hand in his and holding it tightly, he felt himself calm down slowly, his thoughts being reigned in as he brought himself to lock eyes with the boy before him.
"i promise myself to you then sunwoo," chanhee said, his voice soft and gentle and sunwoo knew that he could listen to him for every second of his life. "where's yours? shouldn't i put on the promise ring for you?"
sunwoo took out a similar ring and passed it to chanhee, the older boy immediately putting it on for him and smiling brightly. "you know, out of all the rings i've gotten, i think this one is the prettiest," chanhee stated, sunwoo looking between chanhee and the rings.
