sunwoo sat cross legged by the coffee table as chanhee placed two cups of tea and sat down next to him. "so," chanhee started, sunwoo taking a sip of his tea and immediately scalding himself to which chanhee laughed at but nevertheless asked if he was alright.

"i...i'm not so sure how i should go about saying these things so i'm a bit anxious," sunwoo explained, looking down at his lap and pushing his palms against his leg in an attempt to calm himself. slowly, he felt chanhee take a hold of his hands, locking their fingers together and in that small action, he found the slightest bit of courage to open up more to the boy. "so, for starters, i-"

chanhee's phone began ringing, cutting sunwoo off and depleting any ounce of confidence he had. quickly, chanhee rejected the call, diverting all his attention back onto sunwoo. then, his phone began ringing again and every time he rejected the call, it would only reply with more ringing.

"you should answer that," sunwoo said, trying to free his hand from chanhee to give the boy space but instead, chanhee held onto his hand tighter, pulling him even closer towards him as he eventually answered the call.

based on his expressions, sunwoo didn't have the slightest clue who had called chanhee or what they were talking about but once the call had ended, chanhee tossed his phone at the sofa, running his free hand through his hair.

"what happened?" chanhee shook his head, forcing a smile on his face as he urged sunwoo to continue what it was he wanted to say, knowing full well that his vulnerability was fleeting. "i want to know what happened first chanhee." adamant on knowing, sunwoo positioned himself such that he was directly looking into chanhee's eyes, the older of the pair clearly trying his best to remain composed despite the flurry of emotions he felt. "chanhee-"

"it was just my dad again — you know how he is with his threats and such. but he won't get away with exposing your private life so it's really no big deal sunwoo-" sunwoo pulled chanhee into a hug, the boy fitting perfectly in the gamers' arms. "i want to hear about you though sunflower. what was it that you wanted to tell me?" chanhee asked, hurriedly wiping his tears before they could fall and stain sunwoo's shirt which would alert the boy that he was indeed crying.

"but, you're clearly going through something and i don't want to ignore that either," sunwoo whispered, chanhee feeling his breath against his ear which sent chills down his spine. "i promise i'll talk about me later but i can't think properly if you're down," sunwoo said, bringing chanhee onto his lap as he brought the boys' face closer to his, their noses mere centimetres apart.

"you always prioritize me sunwoo," chanhee replied, wrapping his arms around sunwoo once more and placing his head on his neck. "it makes me feel guilty."

"i'm sorry but on the brighter side of things, we prioritize each other a lot." both boys laughed softly as sunwoo ran his hand through chanhee's hair, his other arm loosely wrapped around the boys' waist. a moment of silence descended upon them, neither of them wanting to be the subject of the conversation yet both wanting to be there for the other. in the end, neither could bring it upon themselves to pierce through the silence, their thoughts trapping them within themselves and leaving them speechless.

after a few minutes, sunwoo finally spoke up. "chanhee?" the older boy hummed in response. "do you mind if i talk about me first then?"

chanhee sat upright, his arms still loosely wrapped around sunwoo's neck as he smiled at the boy, glad that for once, he decided to prioritize himself and pushing his father's threats to the very back of his mind so that he could give all his attention to sunwoo.

and before he knew it, sunwoo had began telling him everything he felt from how he feared that chanhee would leave if he was too dependent on him to how nauseating it had become for him to handle everything on his own.

neither of them had any idea of how much time had passed as they talked but when chanhee woke up the next day on the bed in sunwoo's embrace, he couldn't help but push himself slightly upwards to place a soft kiss on his forehead, afraid of waking him up but still wanting to be as intimate as possible with the boy.

"thank you for trusting me sunwoo," chanhee whispered, staring at the sleeping face of his boyfriend and holding his face in his hands. "i promise i will do everything i can to protect you my sunflower," he said, gently tracing the features of his face with his index finger. "i love you so much kim sunwoo."

and, when he thought back on the call with his father, he knew that he meant every word he said, willing to do whatever it took when it came to the boy he loved the most.
