when sunwoo woke up, he saw chanhee sitting with his head on the bed. with a faint smile, sunwoo subconsciously tucked loose strands of chanhee's hair behind his ears and his smile only got wider the second he could see more of chanhee's face.
a blessing — that was what chanhee was to sunwoo.
before he could admire the boy for longer, chanhee opened his eyes, sunwoo immediately looking away to hide the fact that he had been watching him, his ears turning a bright red. "were you staring at me kim sunwoo?" chanhee teased, raising himself up and sitting on the edge of the bed so he could get a better view of sunwoo's face (which he had tried desperately to hide). "you know you're horrible at hiding how you feel."
"shut up chanhee, i'm bedridden," sunwoo said, chanhee rolling his eyes and standing up only for sunwoo to pull him back by the wrist, chanhee turning around and almost landing directly on sunwoo.
"what in the kdrama...?" chanhee asked, his face mere inches away from sunwoo's. sunwoo felt his heart rate accelerate due to the close proximity and before he knew it, he had cupped chanhee's face with his hands.
"cute," sunwoo muttered, smiling at chanhee's squished face as the older boy kept himself up through his stretched out arms that were pressed against the bed. "have you kissed anyone before chanhee?"
"what? of course i have i-" sunwoo pulled himself up, his lips meeting chanhee's with the ulzzang quickly overcoming his shock and reciprocating the kiss. sunwoo smiled into the kiss and when chanhee saw his slight smile, something inside him had gone absolutely haywire, making him want to deepen the kiss, gently wrapping his arms around sunwoo, almost really getting onto the bed.
but eventually, sunwoo pulled away before he could, chanhee letting out a slight whine instinctively as he let go of sunwoo and stood up properly. "where'd you learn to do that if you've never dated?"
sunwoo shrugged, smirking slightly, now fully sat up and smiling innocently at pouting chanhee. "fuck you," chanhee whispered, turning around to grab the bags of food.
"if you want to, i have no objections against that- you're harming an injured person!" sunwoo yelled, catching the plastic cutlery chanhee had tossed at him but nevertheless laughing. "by the way chanhee, are we uh...are we boyfriends...?"
"stop acting shy when you would've probably kissed me more if we weren't in a hospital," chanhee muttered, placing sunwoo's food on his table and passing him cutlery (which was different from what he had launched at sunwoo about five seconds ago). "and, i'm not a big fan of labels but i guess we are."
sunwoo nodded, taking his spoon out of the packaging. meanwhile, chanhee had made a small space for himself on his bedside table so that he could eat near him. "that's good. i can tell people to stay away from my boyfriend. you don't mind do you?" chanhee choked on his water, coughing loudly that sunwoo felt an urge to call the nurses and ask if he was alright. "are you okay? does my boyfriend need anything?"
chanhee held his hand out towards him. "i need you to stop saying that."
"but you are my boyfriend."
"keep saying that and i won't be for long," chanhee retorted, sunwoo rolling his eyes but still feeling as though he were floating.
everything about chanhee made him excessively happy. he didn't know if that was a good thing or if he was the only one who felt that way in the relationship but in all honesty, he didn't care — chanhee still chose to be with him and that in itself was enough of a blessing for sunwoo because out of all the people he could've been with, he still chose the random gamer boy he met on instagram.
"hey sunwoo, can i talk to you about something?" chanhee asked, breaking the comfortable silence between them. sunwoo hummed in response, unable to reply since his mouth was filled with rice. "if let's say, my parents try to get you to leave me and they offer you things, would-"
"i wouldn't leave you," sunwoo replied, taking another mouthful of rice. "i've already been hospitalised because of one of your psycho fans and yet, i'm still here with you. if anything, the psycho fans are what i'm most scared of."
sunwoo feared that all his words of determination would fall on deaf ears seeing as how chanhee genuinely looked so concerned about the rhetorical scenario he had just stated. so, quietly, he put his food on the other bedside table and pushed his small tray table down.
he swung his legs over the bed and gently, he took chanhee's hands in his, bringing them up to his lips and placing a soft kiss on his knuckles before fiddling with his fingers.
"well, would you still stay with me if i'm no longer pretty-"
"if you'd have me, i would. and besides, you're so much more than just 'pretty' and you know that. but where's all these sudden questions coming from chanhee? did something happen?"
chanhee smiled at him, shaking his head and sunwoo knew he was hiding something from him. but, knowing how chanhee had to deal with him acting in a similar way before on so many occasions, sunwoo simply nodded.
"but whatever it is you're going through-" sunwoo shifted closer to chanhee, brushing his fringe away and placing a kiss on his forehead. "-you and i will get through it together," he whispered, their foreheads touching with chanhee slightly tilting his head upwards towards sunwoo.
and sunwoo knew that everything he had uttered to chanhee came straight from his heart and if anyone even tried to mess with chanhee, they should sleep with two eyes open.
