Seth's POV;
I embraced her like I wasn't going to leave her, because the truth is...I love her.
She wraps her arms around my neck. Silence fills the air between us and every space in between that. Her fingers run through my fucked up hair. I can feel Kenzie convulse under me and I wonder if its because of the words I just said. It wasn't much, but it was enough. I couldn't...I can't take them back.
She blows hot air at me. "I think I love you too." She whispers.
I don't need to open my eyes to realize that she's biting her lip. I burry myself into her, feeling her warmth and comfort. The top of my head rests on her cheek. A few seconds go by, but it feels like its been forever.
"I needed you. I need you. I will always need you." I whisper.
She ruffles my hair even more, "I know, Seth."
This seems like a dim conversation, but I know I can't loose her. She's my world.
I push myself off of her, feeling as if my weight is to much. She's tiny and I'm built; I don't want to crush her.
I lay my back against the couch, which now seems to be warm. Mckenzie instantly clings to my body. One of her legs lays beside my right one while the other configures a L on my abdomen and part of my thighs. Half of her body lies across half of mine. Kenzie leans back and pulls a blanket up. She lays the blanket across her butt, swallowing part of her leg and running along the opposite side of my body. Heat builds under the blanket while we lay there for what feels like hours on end; knowing it's only been minutes.
I could watch Mckenzie forever. I catch everything she does. Every little detail, it sounds obsessive but it's not. I adore her.
Her hand reaches up and touches my lips. She leans over and snatches a quick kiss, lays back down, and licks her lips. I smile and laugh to myself.
She defiantly has something going for her other than her good looks. I bite my lip, trying to avoid my ring.
With a hand behind my head and an arm wrapped around Kenzie I felt pretty damn good.
"Hey, Seth." Mckenzie speaks up.
"Yeah?" I nearly whisper.
"Can I ask you something?" She tilts her head up and looks directly into my eyes.
"Of course," I shrug, "what is it?"
Her right hand runs in circles on my chest. She studies the rise and fall of my chest for a minute, retrieving a response. Mckenzie watches her index finger circle slowly. "Why do you think bad things happen to good people, and good things happen to bad people?
"Well..." I start, "bad things happen to good people because God, someone I don't personally believe in, wants to test or tempt some person(s), or a group of people's, faith. Everyone, absolutely everyone, has ups and downs in their life. Just like a heart monitor has the ups and downs to tell whether a person is living or not."
"Well then why do good things happen to bad people?" She pushes.
I bite my lip in hesitation, "good things happen to bad people because they deserve a little taste of something good. That way a bad person can say, '"I like this and I'm willing to work for it to get more.'" They may never have known what good is because they've always known bad. God is giving the sinner (another) chance to redeem himself or herself."
"And...why don't you believe in God?" Mckenzie strikes.
"Uh, my parents always forced God into my life, but I didn't see him as the 'all mighty' he was told to be. He wasn't there for me when I asked or prayed for him. I got down on my knees for him, I cried and screamed. Nothing, no one ever came to save me. What kind of creator creates people that he never helps? Who would create such an obscene and awful world?"
