" Yup, I reached, no I did not get wet.. yup I'll be ready by five-thirty.....no five is too early no " I whined to jess on the phone. So every year my company offers its employees a day or two for a trip and this year we decided to go camping, jess always says happy employees happy work.

So for the hundredth time since I left the office and headed home jess called me to remind me that I should wake up early because last time apparently they had to wait for me for almost an hour, in my defense I had a slight cold the day before so to be active the next day I drank a little more than what was asked to of the syrup and slept like a log.

" jess," I said turning off my car engine.

" what is it now? " she asked tired of all my whining.

"I'll be all dressed and all ready for the trip. " I said tired of all the argument.

" See that's like a good girl, now don't get drenched in the rain you'll catch a cold " I felt like a little kid being taken care of by her mother.

" fine, I got my umbrella. Bye love you and I'll be ready by five-thirty not five " I said cutting the call not waiting for her to finish, jess can get really naggy at times like this.

I entered the house, placing the umbrella in the rack I took of my coat, looking at the pitch-black house I wondered wasn't Duncan home yet?.

There was an eerie silence the only sound I could hear was that of rain, thunder, and the wooshing breeze. I felt like I was in a horror movie and any time soon I would find a ghost popping in my direction.

I immediately turned on the lights at the scary thoughts.

What shocked me was tiny drops of blood scattered on the dark coloured floor. It was like a trail leading to the destination, I felt like I was stuck in an adventurous game, featured in a dark room on a rainy day and I had to follow the trail to win my prize. But in my situation, I felt happy without the prize.

But my mind had thoughts of its own and I followed the trail like every other victim. I had this unsettling knot in my stomach, making me feel I wouldn't be able to see what would be at the end of the trail.

Gathering all the courage I have I slowly moved forward following the trail each time I got a step closer, my brain projected me a small shot of all the ominous things that could be there.

The blood drops stopped right in front of Duncan's door. The door was slightly open and I could hear small groans coming from it.

My throat went dry, my heart thumping, there was this unsettling feeling, I was terrified to see what was behind the door. Taking a couple of deep breaths I pushed the door wide open.

Duncan stood next to his bed, soaking wet, blood dripping from his right hand that was not properly bandaged, he was a complete mess.

He looked at me surprised, he immediately placed his hand behind his back covering it from me. My mind was in a coma, my whole body numb.

" baby girl why don't you get some rest ?" he said. I came out of my trance my mind giving me instructions to help him.

I moved close to him, gently taking his hand in mine his bandage was soaked in blood.

" ok so know I got to stop the bleeding first, no actually you got to change your completely drenched but then the blood....huh," I said pacing back and forth. I started panicking. I have never been in a situation like this.

" shh... Calm down my love " Duncan said in his husky tone, calming me instantly.

" fine, sit down," I said helping him sit on the bed. While I got the first aid kit from the table.
