When Amanda and her mom moved to another country she was six years old, still very young but old enough to understand the reason why they had to move.
"Mummy where is daddy ?" six years old Amanda asked her mummy
"He travelled for a while but he'll come back soon with plenty Barbie dolls for you okay ?"
Mrs Patience Nedu was wearing a black gown and her eyes were puffy, she looked tired and badly in need of sleep. She wiped her face with her palms as she folded her daughter's clothes into her pink Dora the explorer themed traveling back.
Amanda nodded her head to her mother's response. She knew what was going on and she understood everything. She has watched to much 𝒂𝒇𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒎𝒂𝒈𝒊𝒄 to understand what's going on.
Daddy is in heaven
"Mummy is daddy in heaven ?"
Her mother looked up at her and the tears she had been trying to hold back spilled, flowing down her cheeks like rain water. She opened her arms for her little daughter and the little girl ran into her mother's embrace holding her tightly.
"Don't worry mommy, he's looking after us. My Sunday school teacher says that we have another father up in heaven and he'll take care of us" she wiped the tears from her mother's face and hugged her tightly.
Her mother sobbed into her embrace and whispered "I'll always take care of you"
Amanda knew another reason why
they had to leave.
Her uncles were being mean, more than usual.
"We will go to America so that you can see snow !"
The little girl shrieked with excitement
"Snow mummy?" and hurriedly packed her toys. She has seen snow so many times in her cartoons and all she wanted to do at the moment was to make a snow man with her mom.
" I can't wait mommy"
