Smile for me

* CHAPTER TEN *

AMANDA'S POV

Mom was sitting outside when I got home, she was using her laptop and writing at the same time. She didn't notice me walking towards her. I sat down on the bench with her and I noticed she was using her headphones which is probably why she didn't notice me until I sat down.

    "Hey mom"

She removed her headphones and shut her laptop

  "How was your day today? Chioma said you went out with Uche"

  "My day was okay, Uche is showing me around. He's trying to make fall in love with this place"

  "Hmm, did it go well?"

  "Yeah it did actually"

She sighed and placed her hand on my lap

"I'm so sorry Amanda, I'm so sorry that this change is hard on you. I never wanted this to happen to us but I couldn't think of anything else."

  "It's fine mom, I mean if you have a problem the one place you can turn to is family. I missed grandma a lot and I'm happy I met Chioma"

  "Thank you for being so understanding, I'll make everything right again"

She hugged me for a while before letting me go

  "I'll go inside now, are you coming soon?"

  "I'll come in as soon as I'm done with what I'm doing"

I nodded and walked inside. It was already a few minutes past 8 and grandma would already be asleep because she sleeps pretty early. I walked into the room and Chioma was getting ready for bed, she was cleaning her face with her cleanser and cotton wool.

   "You're going to sleep now? Isn't it too early for you?"

I removed my clothes and changed into my nighties. I packed my braids up and wore my bonnet to cover them up while I sleep. I'll have to remove them soon and make another one

  "I had a busy day today, me and 𝒏𝒏𝒆 𝒏𝒏𝒆 had to work around the house today. I helped her plant some tomatoes at the backyard and we went to the market to get some food stuffs"

"Oh you had a very busy day"

  "How about you ?did you have fun?"

She was smirking and wriggling her eyebrows up and down. I rolled my eyes at her and threw a pillow at her face

  "I did have fun, he took me to this abacha restaurant it was really good"

   "Aunty Kelechi's right ? I can tell from your expression"

   "Yeah her!"

"So I guess he's beginning to grow on you ? You're starting to like him?"

"Did I not like him before? What do you mean"

She stood up from her side of the bed and sat down close to me

  "You know what I mean!"

"No i don't Chioma, tell me what you mean"

   "Oh forget it Amanda you're so boring!"

I told her about the rest of my day, she fell asleep before I even finished. I laid down on the bed, I am beginning to like it here a little bit and a part of me knows it is because I spent the day with Uche today, he might be a little obnoxious and not to talk of too full of himself but he's really funny and he made me feel comfortable today. I picked up my phone and earphones to listen to my favorite album, I fell asleep listening to music.
