AMANDA'S POV
When Chioma and I left 𝒑𝒂𝒑𝒂'𝒔 house it was already night time. 𝑷𝒂𝒑𝒂 was telling us so many stories, some I even doubt were true.
"Do you know when I heard you left 𝒆𝒏𝒉 I was so angry at your 𝒏𝒏𝒆, I said to myself if I ever see her again I'll scold her till she cries" 𝑷𝒂𝒑𝒂 was telling me.
I still wonder why mother never told him we left or why we left. I wonder how many people even knew we left.
"𝑷𝒂𝒑𝒂 can talk for Africa" Chioma said to me as we were walking home
"What does that mean?" I asked confused, she was laughing at me again
"It means he talks a lot and he over exaggerates his statement. 𝒉𝒎𝒎𝒎 I have to teach you some 9𝒋𝒂 slangs Amanda"
"Please do, so that you can stop laughing at me every time I ask you to explain something to me"
"I'm sorry now, but you're so funny sometimes I can't help it"
I pushed her playfully and ran away with her hot on my heels.
When we got back home, 𝒏𝒏𝒆 𝒏𝒏𝒆 and my mom were sitting outside and talking, they stopped talking when they saw us coming.
"𝒏𝒏𝒆 𝒏𝒏𝒆 𝒎𝒈𝒃𝒆𝒅𝒆 𝒐𝒎𝒂" ( good evening grand ma)
Chioma and I greeted 𝒏𝒏𝒆 𝒏𝒏𝒆 as we approached them. I sat down close to my mom and Chioma sat at the edge of the bench we were sitting on.
"𝒊 𝒏𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒂𝒂?" (did you have fun today ?) 𝒏𝒏𝒆 𝒏𝒏𝒆 asked us
We nodded yes in response
"Is your 𝒏𝒏𝒂 𝒏𝒏𝒂 well? He was here last week when I told him you guys were coming back"
"Yes 𝒎𝒂𝒎𝒂 , he's okay. He sends his regards"
We sat outside for a while receiving the fresh night air, 𝒎𝒂𝒎𝒂 told us some stories and news about the village and something about how her "meeting people" almost scammed her of her money.
𝑴𝒂𝒎𝒂 got up from the bench and stretched out, she was tired already.
"𝒂𝒈𝒂 𝒎 𝒆𝒉𝒊 𝒖𝒓𝒂 𝒖𝒈𝒃𝒖 𝒂 , 𝒌𝒂 𝒄𝒉𝒊 𝒃𝒐𝒐 𝒖𝒏𝒖 𝒏𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒆" (I'm going to sleep now, goodnight all of you)
We all said goodnight to her as she walked in. Chioma followed her saying she was sleepy too and left mom and I still outside.
"Mom why didn't you tell grand pa that we were leaving the country?" I asked almost immediately
She looked at me confused for a few seconds before she finally sighed like she had no other choice but to answer the question. Of course she had no other choice.
"Everything was moving so fast my dear, I didn't even tell anybody I was leaving not even my sister. The only person that knew was 𝒎𝒂𝒎𝒂 and that's because she tried to stop me from leaving"
"But why didn't you tell anyone? Mom he was really hurt, you should have seen him. He deserved to know you were taking his grand daughter away from him" I said to her a little coldly than I intended to
"I didn't take you away from anyone, I was trying to protect us. I did what i thought was best for us and I don't regret it"
"Well we are kinda back to where we started from, things are a little different now" she placed her hands on mine in a comforting way
