AMANDA'S POV
Even after begging Uche to just let me walk home on my own when we got to the junction of my house, he refused.Truth is I was slightly embarrassed at the fact that I had a mini breakdown outside his house when he asked me about his mom making me uncomfortable. That is one of the many reasons why I don't like to talk about the fact that my dad died or the fact that I can't remember anything about that day. But I'm also a little giddy because he comforted me the way he did.
I only found Chioma at home when I got back, she was watching a movie on her phone when I walked in. I mumbled a short greeting to her and walked to the room
It's a little early to go to bed even for me but I'm really tired and I just want to rest my body on the bed. After changing my clothes I lay down on the bed with my phone in my hand reminiscing about my day
My day started out weird because well Aunty Ifeoma kinda apologized to me I guess but the highlight of my day was the time I spent with Uche today, he really is trying hard to make me like this place. So far the only thing making Enugu bearable is of course my family being here and my new friend Uche and little Kelechi too, I smile as I remember how he calls me Aunty Amanda, a title that I'm yet to get used to
I pick up my phone and I open my messages, a new message from Lisa that I've been ignoring for over a week now stares back at me and I quickly search for Uche's name, I decide to send him an emoji instead of a text message because I have no idea what to text him. I send him a smiley face and a thumbs up - the smiley face because I had a nice time with him today and a thumbs up because sending him only a smiley face would be weird. I fall asleep minutes after hitting send
. . . .
The sun is too bright when I wake up, the sun light has illuminated everywhere in the small room and I almost think I over slept but the morning dew beginning to fade away tells me otherwise, Chioma is not on her own side of the bed so she must have woken up before me. I get up from the bed and mumble a quick prayer before arranging my own side of the bed
Grandma and mom are sitting in the sitting room when I walk in, I greet them first before walking into the kitchen where I know Chioma is, she's gulping down a cup of lipton tea and she doesn't even notice me walking in, she's dressed up and her shoulder bag is hanging on her shoulders. She quickly rinses the cup when she's done
"Good morning Chioma, are you going out?" She nods her head at me
"Yes, I have somewhere to go this morning, I might be gone for the entire day"
"Oh okay"
"Maybe you should check and see what Uche is doing today?" She says wriggling her eyebrows at me, I roll my eyes at her before she leaves, I pour a sachet of Nescafé coffee in a mug before pouring hot water from the kitchen flask in to the coffee powder
I take my coffee to my room, I remove my phone from under my pillow to check my notifications, I have none except one from my health app informing me that my period is approaching soon, I make a mental note to get some pain reliving pills from a pharmacy for my cramps that I'm definitely going to have
I open my inbox and see that I have no reply from Uche, maybe he thought my message was weird and chose to not reply back, I'm dialing his number before I can stop myself but he doesn't pick up. I finish my coffee and I take my cup to the kitchen to rinse it. I decide to just take my bath instead even though it's really to early
30 minutes later, I'm sitting on the bed with my phone on my laps and my earphones on the bed. I'm already getting bored, i pick up my phone and I try calling Uche again, he picks the call this time
