It hadn't even been a week since Rose had faced down Natalie and she was back training with the other novices. She was working the drills as if she hadn't been in a fight with a real Strigoi. Hell, she had fought Alberta and myself, saying that she didn't need to be in the infirmary; while she was right that she hadn't been hurt, we wanted her to rest, and the infirmary was the only place she would get that opportunity. Doctor Olendzki was in on it with us and was more than happy to keep Rose in there with excuses of tests, so that Rose would finally rest like she was supposed to.

When I finally sound her, she was in the gym, training with the other novices. She had been training up on one of the ceiling beams when I entered the room. The Guardian teaching the class called her down. Rose smirked before she launched herself, yet again, off the beam and grabbed the nearest climbing rope. As her ponytail swung around her head, I caught a glimpse of the back of her neck. There were probably over a dozen Molnija marks there. I quietly pondered how and when she earned her previous marks as she was climbing down the rope.

When she was safely back on the ground, she joined the group, and they reviewed the moves from the class and started their cool down exercises. Guardian Henderson approached me while the class was stretching.

"She's really something, isn't she?" He asked motioning toward Rose.

"Indeed. Does she normally do that?" I questioned for the second time that day. "When I was training her, she showed amazing skills; I really didn't need to do any mentoring but I did to keep Kirova off her back."

"She normally adds her spin onto the lesson of the day, but she doesn't do it to show off. She does it to better herself." He told me. "Ever since returning, she has excelled all expectations. She's an excellent student, one of the best."

"How did she get her Molnija?"

"You'll have to ask her that, she hasn't told us. The only ones who know are Alberta, the Princess, and Rose."

I only nodded as Henderson shook my hand and walked off. Rose only had one more class before lunch and it was still in the gym. I leaned back against the wall and waited for Weight Training and Conditioning to start.

Standing there I wondered how Rose had gotten so many marks. There was no way the headmistress or the Queen knew about them because if they did, they wouldn't have treated her so badly, that much was obvious. All this time I had thought that she had been lucky when dealing with Natalie, but now, I wondered if what Victor had said was true.

Excusing myself, I left the gym and searched for Alberta. I found her already talking to Ms Kirova, and politely interrupted.

"Excuse me, I am sorry to interrupt; but I think we may need to watch the footage from the cells during Victor's time there."

Ellen Kirova frowned at my suggestion but relented, escorting us to her office. Making ourselves comfortable, we started the recorded video. It went for several hours so I took control of the remote and fast forwarded it till we watched Natalie make her way down the stairs. We didn't know what we were expecting when she descended those last steps, but Rose wasn't shocked, it was as if she had expected it. She immediately jumped into action, flinging her body silently at the monster trying to escape from the cage. Natalie's face and skin in general was sickly pale, her lips tainted bright red. She snarled at Rose, poising her body to attack.
