Out of Control
A loud chuckle echoed throughout the place. It was mine.
"Nice job, people! Thank you! What happened to them? Clean them, please... And if possible, remove any trace of evidence. We wouldn't want them having their way back to us..." I grinned at our another victory of destroying bad... bad people.
Sarcasm at its finest. I mocked.
Time flies. I realized it's been 5 years already. Who knew that time would harden me more? Turns out, marami pala talagang kalaban ang grupo namin. And it gives me headaches every time!
Gusto lang namin tumulong. I know that our ways are somehow... wrong. But hey! Why are people so evil that we are forced to act one as well!?
"Dispose of them," My face winced when I saw their condition.
My men are great. Really great. The finest, actually. I'm proud of that. Whenever I tell them to do their work, they really really do their best.
Katulad nito.
A group of illegal dealers were hurdled in front of me. Most of them are on their knees with either a black eye, broken bones, or both.
"Just like that?" Ruce asked beside me.
Years and he still haven't changed. "Come on, Ruce. What do you wanna do with them? Let them get jailed and be used for any service available."
"Like... sewages?" He suggested. Flashbacks made me scoff and I nodded.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever. It's better than killing them. We're no murderers... almost? But... What happened to the others we are targeting? Have our men finished tracking their deals yet? May ledger account pa 'di ba? We need to get that as well."
"Ruby, listen-"
"Ruce, no." Agad kong tinakip ang hintuturo sa bibig niya.
His face contorted and glared at me. "Remove this or I'll bite your finger."
"I'll cry."
His eyes squinted and he gently pushed my arm away before taking a hold of it with his other hand. I glared at him and he let me go immediately.
"Kaya mo naman palang bitawan."
I mockingly smiled at him. "How could you stretch my arm like that? What if you break it?"
"Prosthetics are available now." He shrugged arrogantly and I rolled my eyes.
"The audacity!" I exclaimed and he just waved his hands while walking away. "Where are you going!?"
"I'll wait for you in the car." Kalmadong sagot ni Ruce.
"We'll go to another one after the next!" I shouted.
Natigilan siya. Ruce is basically like those men in black. Colder and boring version.
"Ano? Hindi pa tapos? May isa pa pagkatapos ng kasunod nito? The heck?" Mukha siyang badtrip sa nalaman.
It was my turn to smile smugly. "So what? We need to destroy them all. Time is gold. Chop chop."
"What... happened to you?" He was staring at me. "You're being a bit... greedy with this destroying thing..."
My mood turned a bit sour. His words made me a bit off. What was he implying?
"I'm just... doing my work, Ruce. So what, right?"
"Ruby, you need to chill. Too much greed to destroy can be dangerous even if you just wanted to help people..."
"I can't. I don't wanna stop. This has been our routine for years. We're successful so what's wrong about it?" I argued back.
