Chapter 30: The Climactic Clash in the Cave

The sounds of combat were the only sounds that could be heard in the cave. The devastating battle between Asta and Yami vs the Eye of the Midnight Sun's Third Eye was on a different level than anything Asta had experienced before. Even though he only had to face one of the members in Vetto the Despair, Asta could tell that a single slip up could cost him his life.

"Come on brat, bringing you down into the pits of despair won't be fun if you don't fight back" said Vetto as he punched Asta sending him into a wall. Asta then in response released a Devils Roar sending Vetto to the other side of the cave, "is that better?". Vetto then cracked his neck with a manic grin before charging back at Asta. Asta mirrored his beastly adversary and dashed forward. Both physical power-houses threw a powerful punch that clashed and caused a plume of smoke to cover the two. The first to exit the smoke was Asta as he flew to the roof to use it as a springboard to dash down and land a heavy axe-kick to the top of Vetto's head. Vetto then grabbed Asta by the leg and threw him toward the wall, but Asta was able to land feet first on the wall and charge at Vetto with an anti-magic infused punch. Vetto was able to bring his guard up in time to block the punch but it did send the beast man back a few feet.

"Yes! That's more I like it brat!" said Vetto while he smiled as if he was having the time of his life. Asta on the other hand was seriously out of breath, Asta has been in three back to back fights with next to no time to catch his breath and it was catching up on him. But it was clear that even if Asta was fresh there was no guarantee he could take down the titan of strength that was Vetto.

'I gotta push past my limits! Just like what Captain Yami said!', Asta dashed towards Vetto, ducking a swipe from Vetto with his Beast Magic: Bear Claw active and landing a strong uppercut. Asta then landed another punch that sent Vetto onto his back. Not wanting to give Vetto any breathing room, Asta began to pummel Vetto with multiple heavy punches to both sides of his face. Asta's assault was only stopped when he was grabbed by Vetto and slammed into the ground. Vetto then got up and started to stomp Asta deeper and deeper into the ground with every hit. Asta could feel the bones in his chest getting closer to breaking with every hit of Vetto's massive foot. Asta then summoned one of his swords and prepared it to stab into Vetto's foot. Vetto jumped away to save his foot.

Asta pried himself out of the him shaped hole in the ground. Liebe then appeared beside Asta, "Asta, are you ok!?". "Oh now you show up" said Asta as he rolled his eyes, "but to answer your question. I'm getting the tar beaten out of me by a giant furry. You tell me if I'm ok". "I'll take that as a no" said Liebe in an embarrassed voice. "You always were the smart one bro" said Asta in a sarcastic voice.

"Are you finished saying goodbye to your little friend? Cause I'm gonna kill you now" said Vetto as he started walking to Asta. "Can I have one goddamn minute!?" shouted Asta as he took a stance. "Nope" said Vetto as he jumped up and threw a punch toward the ground. Asta jumped back to avoid the punch and launched a sword toward Vetto. The blade was moving too fast for him to dodge, so Vetto brought his arm up to stop the blade from hitting his vital areas. The blade pierced straight through Vetto's arm and only stopped at the hilt of the blade. "Agh you damn brat!" shouted Vetto as he quickly pulled the blade out from his arm. "I think you pissed him off" whispered Liebe. "Geez thanks Captain Obvious" replied Asta.

Before Asta and Vetto could continue their fight, a loud crash could be heard. Asta and Vetto both turned to the sound to see Captain Yami appearing to be in rough shape. Unlike Asta, Yami has been fighting two members of the Third Eye at once. And if Vetto was any indication, even one member of the Third Eye was a deadly opponent.

"Damn, these guys are strong" said Yami as he prepared to continue facing Raia and Fana. "I'm impressed you've survived facing us for so long. Are you some kind of freak of nature" said Raia as he yawned. "You hurt Light, I won't stop until I kill you" said Fana as smoke started to come out of Salamanders mouth. Both Raia and Fana both prepared to finish Yami off by firing a Lightless Slash and Salamanders Breath combo attack at the Black Bulls captain. "Captain Yami!" shouted Asta as he saw the powerful combo attack heading straight for his captain. "Don't get distracted, brat!", Asta quickly turned his head just in time to see Vetto's fist crash into his face, sending him into a wall, leaving him motionless and unable to help his captain stop the deadly attack.
